I've never used goalie gloves, and I probably never will. With any skill, you shouldn't be getting hit in the hands much.

I just got new Superstar II's and they're gorgeous. They have enough protection where I don't really feel shots, and the independent cuff is great. Any other mid-upper end glove will provide the same protection most likely.

If you are dead set on the thumb bulky goalie gloves either get the eBay STX i2's or get the goalie version of the Warrior Hypno's. If you have a lot of cash and are pretty experienced, check into goalie Mac's and Freaks.

its nice to have the extra protection breaking your thumb is really really painful and you will still break your thumb probably. but a goalie glove offers much better protection then a field glove and i would personally go for a warrior glove because i think they have the best thumb protection (i heard they were steel plated but im not exactly sure) but its your choice so pick what you want

If you are that worried about protection and want steel plating then get hockey gloves.

ehh... i would never use hockey stuff in lacrosse. they aren't flexible enough. hockey stays with hockey. lacrosse stays with lacrosse. im not tryin to talk you down or anything stalion, just sayin that you should get lacrosse gear to play lacrosse... if your hands and fingers are breaking that much from your gloves, then i don't see why you wouldn't put the extra money in them to keep them protected. if they keep breaking, then you must have a hand problem or something... i take some hard shots to my hands and heck yes i feel it! but not enough to break them..
drink some milk lol

PEACE PEACE PEACE!!

I got a real cheap pair off e-bay but now I have to drink a gallon of milk a day to keep my bones strong. I just figured out these cheap gloves are costing me about 900 dollars a year.

Freak accidents happen. Most collegiate goalies wouldn't risk the injury.

Goalie gloves aren't that bulky. I2s, hypnos, choppers, shoguns, they are all decent and affordable.

I just use my hockey gloves. They have a lot more padding, better mobility, and work well. Theres the big plastic thing that runs through the thumb(hockey players will understand what Im talking about) and thats my version of a goalie glove!
However, I havent taken a crankshot to the thumb yet but Im still confident its better than my field gloves and I dont need to buy new ones.

I use STX Catalyst gloves...they are not goalie gloves but i cant feel anything even when i get hit with a stick. I dont know how much they are, friend gave them to me. They are probably around 50...
