Well repetition of proper form will help in the long run.

Trying to repeat a same spot on the goal is always good..

Anything shot speed related starts in the gym.

completely wrong.

i have seen kids who weigh 120 pounds and can barely bench their body weight shoot 85, while other kids who bench twice their weight can only shoot 75. the speed in your shot comes all from perfect shooting form, which includes generating the most torque possible from your abdomen. granted that strength does help, because the stronger you are, the more torque you can generate, but it won't make as much of a difference as people think.

so if you want to increase your outside shooting with shot speed, don't rely on the gym. you need to practice perfect form. practice doesn't make perfect; perfect practice makes perfect.

That's not tue. If you have correct form you can have a fast shot.

Try twisting your body and unraveling when you shoot. Also make sure you throw with your offhand and work on accuracy more than your shot speed.

shot speed and offhand shooting aren't the problem. I was wondering about stuff like looking at the place where you aren't going to shoot and deception in general

change levels
bounce the ball
mix up locations and release points
hide your head for as long as you can

so basically, to sum up everything everyone above said, have good form and get your muscles to unwind fast enough to generate alot of torque, meaning its not going to be standing still, but rather twisting all the way.

to cause deception, when you wind up, hide the stick behind you.

teaches you everything you need to know about shooting

and usually goalies try to match your body language if your standing tall and your stick is high they think its going to be high , while if you dip your head and shoulders they will probably think its going to be a low shot

so mix it up low to high , high to low overhand, sidearm under hand etc.

well it may not start in the gym but it makes a difference. two kids with the same technique, size, weight, etc.. the strongest man would have the fastest shot.. i believe that perfect practice is the best way to get better, but once youve grasped the proper shooting concept that you are comfortable with. it comes to strength and accuracy with your shooting.
