why?..the goals are half the size and the playing field is smaller than field so the goalies take alot more shots from close and since the goals r smaller they get hit with them alot...id like to see u take 95mph shots from close range on your bare skin

The goalies in box are so messes up. They should only have as much padding as MLL goalies, but maybe they should have the shin guard things. There is no need to have that much padding. It makes the goalies just sit there and they save it. They really don't even have to try.

Uh... have you seen a box game? Pros wind up their hardest shots at like 2 feet away. If they didn't have all that padding, surely all the goalies would slowly die away.
Hey that rhymed!

to powellfan...i like how every mammoth game i've been to, the score has been higher than any MLL game, so the padding really doesn't make the game low scoring because of the fact that the goalies "don't even have to try"...

well i basically meant it as the scores are still pretty high, not that literally every game i've been to has been higher scoring that an MLL game...

How many of you kids have actually been in the goal? I went in for one half of one game durring feild and I felt naked. I wanted more and more pads.

I was the goalie for our summer league team. My save percentage was like forty-something.

You can't critique a goalies preformance until you've been his shoes.

By critique I mean criticize, not helpful criticism, like my criticism.

I'm not even a goalie, though.

Agreed, I've played every position in field but only in goal in box. I'll take playing goal in box any day over field.

One of the kids on my team, our goalie, plays goalie for our hockey team. He hates box goalies. Thinks they're wimpy. Hockey goalies, they have it tough. Staying on skates, all of that stuff. Crazy stuff man, crazy stuff.

Not every goalie in box goes with a Serta Mattress under their jersey. But, of the ones that do, they're making up for a lack of mobility. Philadelphia goalies, Dallas Eliuk and Nick Schroeder, are more mobile, so their pads are only the essential chest, rib, and shoulder pads. I know, I've seen the equipment they're using, and thats it.

The NLL has tried to crack down several times on the size of the goalie pads, and its just not possible to get them all in every game. But I can tell you, that despite the fact that these guys are going with these huge pads, the scores are still where they would be without them. Its just a preference these guys use. Trust me, this makes them no less or more "tough" than MLL or field goalies.
