Please help, quick dye question

I just did a purple to yellow fade on my torque, and want the outside black so I'm covering the inside with electrical tape, is it alright if there is a little tape sticking over the edge of the sidewall, whole sidewall is seald but there is some excess tape sticking over?( i don't have any tape touching or overlapping)
Please help??

cut the extra tape off with an exacto and youll be fine

too late, i didn't have an exacto knife, i already put it in the black, will it come out wrong( i sealed the tape on with heat)
