black dye

black dye usually comes out purple...how long do i need to keep it in or how many do i need for it turn turn pitch black?? help :(

1. I'm pretty sure there are FAQs on this exact topic.

2. What alot of people have done (I have never dyed a head black) is dye the head another dark color (such as dark green) and then move on to black.

Dye the head dark blue/navy first (2 packets) remove after awhile. Then you should wait a bit, rinse the head with cold water and allow to sit. Then dye the head with black (2 packets) and allow to sit for a long time. You will end up with a black head that will not fade to purple.
