I am a freshmen and made varsity this year. Our team got to the semis this year. I didn't really play much this year but have a pretty good chance at starting next year. I get really good grades, like pretty much staight A's every term, not easy classes either, but my town isn't exactly a hotbed for lacrosse. We hadn't made postseason since i think '01 until this year, but we should be strong the next few years. With my grades and playing ability, do you guys think i could go d1?

Yes if you go to camps/tournaments and get noticed by college coaches with good grades its a very likely possibility.

How are we supposed to tell you? If you are playing on a 1st year varsity team, probably not, but if you are playing somewhere more established, then possibly. Focus on practice and getting better, asking people here is never going to get you into college, but running that extra mile, or playing an extra 30min of wall ball after practice will pay off when the time comes to play in front of college coaches.

Yea i would definitly join a summer club team, they even have fall ones or at least the one that im on does. There alot of fun, and you get great exposure while getting better at the same time.
it also depends on how good of teams you play Kyle harrison got noticed at a game when they wernt even going because of his school but the one they wer playing.

And about your grades are you in all the advanced and ap classes you can be in? Because that will help colleges especially if you can hold a 4.0 gpa.

So do you think its better to have a 3.3 GPA (B+ average) in all Honors, AP, and Advanced courses or a higher average with some regulars mixed in?

colleges DO NOT look at advanced courses. when you apply at a big school like duke or something, they go back and re-calculate your GPA with the advanced classes counted as normal. in their minds, the only reason a student should take advanced classes should be for the additional learning and the challenge, not for the grade. focus on getting a high GPA, not advanced classes. Also, focus on getting different areas of education, like pre-calculus and physics. Dont forget colleges love students who take Latin

Where did you hear this from? Every single college I went to (a wide range of some pretty competitive schools), said that if you wanted to be competitive, you need to take AP/IB and honors courses. They unweight and recalculate the GPA so that you're not getting above a 4.0 for your overall GPA (some schools weight them) but do not mistake that for them not caring about the types of courses you choose to take. They want you as a student to challenge yourself as best you can and would rather see you take challenging courses with a little drop in GPA (unweighted) over a higher GPA with regular, nonchallenging courses. You obviously want as high of a GPA as you can get, but you also don't want to get a high GPA with absolutely no challenging courses. The ideal situation is to excel in the hardest courses offered at your high school. There's a point where your GPA drops too much if you're taking too challenging of a course, but if you can keep your GPA relatively high, take the hardest classes possible.

Thor lax I don't know what you are talking about schools love ap classes. Even though they can get you in to play sports they would rather take the person with the better grades since they know that they will stay in college and not get kicked out because they are failing.
Laxgirl0108 yes that is good since you are showing them that you care about school and can apply yourself and challenge yourself.
