Hey guys, I've read the threads on improving a shot for both accuracy and power but I was wondering if you guys could critique my shot and tell me what I need to do to improve it. I do have a goal and try to shoot on it for at least an hour every other day.

Also, I've been thinking about getting one of those targets you put across a goal with the holes in it...more often than not my shots are landing right where the goalie would be and I need to be able to hit the corners. Would it be worth it or is there something else I should do?

i don't think targets help that much since the won't be there during a game, the only reason one would make sense is because the screen in the middle keeps the bad shots from going in to the goal- which might save some time? just look at the corners when you're shooting and do it over and over..

extend ur arms out, ur top hand should be a about 12 inches from bottom of shaft when shooting, and torque ur hips to get more power.

keep ur legs more apart, draw ur power from them, make sure your hands are about 12 or 13 inches apart for optimal power and accuracy. keep your elbows and hands way out from ur body. focus on turning ur hips and shoulders through the shot. half way through the shot snap ur wrist, this will add like 10mph to ur shot. - these r all basics, but really the only thing you need to do is practice, an hour every other day is great :]

btw if u find any of these tips famaliar, a few of them are from mark millons offensive wissadry movie. chek it out its great.

Pull your arms back more and dont "hop" right before you shoot.

1. Get those hands high and away
2. Put top hand lower on stick (to where it feels comfortable)
3. That big of a hop step is not needed

The Accuracy can only be attained by HOURS of practice

Maki- Yeah, I already read that about 4 or 5 times (one of the things i mentioned in my first post) but thanks and still a great find.

Chat, Chron, Lax, Flyers, and UVA - thanks for the input. I'm gonna spend a week trying that stuff out and I'll post another video hopefully showing a drastic improvement.

thanks again everyone!

I know people already said it, but the one thing I would really stress is getting your arms much higher and farther away from your body. It will give you a lot more power.

this is what i do when shooting:

A. get into an athletic base with your legs.
B. bring your hands up and away.
C. turn (torque) hips and torso clockwise (if shooting righty).
D. take step with front food to widen stance as you shoot.
E. untorque your body hard and fast while keeping your hands up, away. then bring pull your bottom hand hard and snap your top hard all keeping your arms extended.

thats what i do.

Bend your knees more, point your elbow, bring your arms away from you body, lower your top hand, bring your stick back further and giro your hips for added momentum.

Bring your top hand down. A good way to do this is put your elbow at the buttend and then where your hand is that is where it should be when shooting.
Bring your arms back, away and up
Don't do that much of a hop.
Turn your hips and shoulders then untwist them while your shooting
Snap your wrists.
