okay so i have a couple of quick questions....
#1 When should you start thinking about the recruiting process if you are serious about playing at a high level in college?
#2 I read the NCAA rules for recruiting and i think it says that if you are not yet a junior then the coach cannot contact you, but you can contact the coach. is email acceptable, and MOST importantly when do you think it is a good time/appropriate to start expressing intrest to the coaches of colleges where you are interested in playing? is there a difference in when this becomes acceptable for girls/guys?
thanks for your help!

it's never too early to start thinking about recruiting, but most of it seems to be done, junior year/ summer after junior year/ and fall of senior year.
I contacted coaches at the beginning of junior year, to express interest, and then again at the beginning of the season to let them know about my season and who i would be playing.

its good to give coaches a shout even if they can't/don't respond. You will get on their lists, and they will look for you at camps ect. Keep in touch with them as the season goes on as well

Are the coaches allowed to respond if you are not yet a junior?

In general, you can email them all you want, however they cannot email you back until the September 1st of your junior year. Also, do clearing house after you have figured out where you're going or if you have a pretty good idea of where you're going. It's only for DI and DII and has to be done before you enter college in the fall of your freshman year. Most coaches will let you know you have to do it when you get to that point of choosing.
