Well I'm getting new heads to dye for laxnation, so does anyone have any requests on a type of dye they would like to see done in one of the articles? I already have 4 you guys will like, but I won't share them with you so it will be a surprise when you see them. But I'm open to suggestions!

i dont really have a preference, but maybe you could try a dye that is uncommon or really hard to do.

I still need your address to send the stuff out. I lost the one you sent me over AIM when i closed the window. PM it to me; I never delete those.

Maybe you should try the one where you use pam and freeze it, i think it is called the frozen storm. As for checkers it is too hard on most sticks to do it on the sides. You could only really do it on the scoop and then it is still hard. Maybe you should do something pink, and have how to get the best pink and what rit color to use. Or you could show how to do detailed logos.

e-lax already did that. If i did it, it wouldjust be a bad rip-off.

I mean the same stye of dye with a different name or something. Im pretty sure that they arent the first people to do that dye. I remember in a stick tech them talking about a pam style of dying. I also know a cousuler from camp who runs a store does those dyes.

yeah but the difference is that they're the first ones to write up an article on how to do that dye. there's already an article about it. If i did it, it would just be a repeat of that article basically. I want something new to expose kids to, not just a dye redone and posted as LN's.

Maybe you can try a "soft mask" or "hard mask". I was looking for a new dye ideas and I found this page for dyeing yo-yos.

I tried the soft mask, and it came out pretty cool, but I didn't clean the head enough first, and I didn't leave it in the dye long enough, so it came out a pastel tie-dye. Perhaps you can perfect the style for dying a lacrosse head.

can you send me a picture? it seems to be the same concept of the frozen storm, but a bit different. It would be great if you could e-mail me a pic, at bdoscher@laxnation.com

Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures, and the head has been sold. From the frozen storm dyes I've seen, this day came out much different, very smooth and blended together. I used yellow (athletic gold) and navy rit dye, and the head came out pastel green, yellow, and blue, but again that was because I didn't properly prepare the head before the dye, and didn't keep it in the dye long enough.
As long as you're taking requests, how about how to dye in complex logos and designs the way Marty Bindel does. I was floored at how well his turned out, especially the multi-colored Chicago Blackhawk-type Indian head. For those who don't know what I'm referring to:

Sometimes I get a request like, 'can you dye my name in black on a white head?' It's feasible, but I don't know how to do it w/o having tons of bleeding involved.

Marty Bindel has access to resources that normal people don't have, including me. I can't do the complex dyes he's known for because I don't have a machine to produce the stickers. those stickers aren't made my hand.

even though elax (myself particularly) has already written the article on the frozen storm YOU SHOULD DO IT. i put up those articles so dudes can do their own thing with it. why not try pam spray with like 4 colors? do it, take pictures and post them. i'm about to try a tye dye flavor with that method, going from red to orange to yellow to... well you get the point. do think of it as copying, think of it as being inspired

The problem I see with the frozen storm is that it seems like it might cause the head to break or weaken. Think about it....freezing a head in a block of ice and then pouring near boiling water on it...that can't be good. It does create a cool effect though.

as much as the frozen storm's pretty cool, I can't just copy it. That'd be incredibly unoriginal. And yes, I definitely agree that it would weaken the head. It has the same effect as boiling a head then sticking it in the freezer.

you could try some simple 1 colour dyes. but heres the catch...
try doing some of those black and white optical illusions or "OP art" like these

Or how about trying to recreate some of the windows media player visualisations?
Just some ideas, might be very difficult to do though!

glow in the dark would be sick, but i dont think it is possible. Maybe a three colored checkered fade dye. Now that would be cool

How about trying to do a sick flame job like you see on a hot rod:
http://www.autobodystore.com/SEMA04-38.jpg
Not just those plain old flames in Devil's Breath (which is cool) but something that has multiple layers like that one up there (minus the lady, of course). I know there's probably not a lot of side wall to do that, but it would be cool if there was a way to kind of get that feel to it.
