I dont live anywhere near a lacrosse store, and I have an unstrung head that I would like to start learning to string traditional and custom pockets on. I'm figureing that the strings would be available at a Home Depot or Lowe's. What sizes of nylons are sidewall strings? (the ones on my good head are about to rip!) What is crosslace? Will they have leather strings that are the correct size there as well?

Wouldn't it be great if I could just go there and buy "Sidewall Strings" "Crosslace" and "Leathers" *sigh...if everything were that easy, than I would be president of the USA.

Thanks ahead of time for your time...

I actually went to Home Depot and picked up some string. I didnt bring string to compare it to so when i got it home, i realized that it was fairly different than crosslace. It was closer to sidewall. I used it as siewall and the top connector for mesh and i worked fine, but when i tried a custom pocket, the strings were a little to thick and not was durrible so it didnt work as expected. Definately go with Jimalax if you already havent. THeir customer service is fast(if you go by e-mail) and incredible friendly as well as helpful. The company is aso very generous. The sent me several pieces of mesh for no charge so that i could see which one would fit my playing style best, after i described my needs. Plus, everyone always talks about the throw ins. I just dont think you could go wrong with jimalax.

Yes, I also live no where near a lax specality store. I get all my stuff from www.jimalax.com

If you go to Home Depot or Lowe's they have nylon braided cord there. I found that the 3/8th (I'm pretty sure, but I forgot) is almost the same stuff as sidewall. Unfortunatly, they had nothing to compare to the leathers and crosslace.

Crosslace (I call it nylon) is the string that you string around in the middle of the pocket

Just to reiforce what everone else has said, get Jimalax. You can but whole 100 yard spools of crosslace (nylon) and sidewall lace. If you don't want that much you can also just order single strings, but I would recommend the spool. Most stores sell laces for a dollar a yard, which would come up to 100 dollars for 100 yards; but Jimalax only charges a little over 13 dollars. If you want more you can always order the 500 yard spool.

1/8th. i bought 100 feet of it and used it as crosslace, worked fine but unless you dont want a dirty looking traditional pocket, buy crosslace off www.jimalax.com
