I have never played indoor before but I am playing in a league soon, and I just want to know some of the rule differences between outdoor and indoor.

lemme see what i can name off the top of my head....
1. crosschecking is perfectly legal. in fact, the referees encourage it rather than slashing.
2. depending on your age group, you can get hit, even if you dont have the ball.
3. tossing it back to your goalie in the crease is a change of possesion.
4. obviously, the 30-second shotclock
5. you cant reach into the crease, even if theres a loose ball in it, and you dont touch the goalie
i know theres TONS, but those are off the top of my head.

Well you might not be playing box, which is what these guys are describing, because I play in an indoor league in the winter and the rules are almost the same as field. Just specify which indoor youre talking about.
you could buy a rule book depending on where you live...or find one off the internet You will be able to find the NLL Rule Book on the internet but not the CLA Rule Book. I'm not sure why that is. What a great way to grow the game ... give everybody access to the rules!

I have found several references to the rules on the Internet but not the mechanics. Does anyone know about box specific mechanics?

Here is NLL rulebook! Which is Box Lacrosse. (Please don't call it boxla!)
http://nll.com/uploads/2007rulebook.pdf
The NLL is far from Canadian (CLA) Boxla
There are many rule differences and it should be taken lightly if you are playing traditional boxla rules
Especially with last years rule change that prohibits off-ball crosschecking.
The NLL has been somewhat modified with field-like rules to gain the interest of American players. In otherwords, they've wussified our great game into something college players will like.
"And gee, if John Grant loves OLA so much, why is he playing MLL?"
John Grant is a hotheaded sellout who does actually play in the OLA but only when his team is about to win the Mann Cup. He some how weasles his way onto the scoresheet of the manditory 4 games to be qualified to play in the playoffs and Mann Cup finals. He can obviously make more money in the MLL so chooses to do so.
From NLL Rulebook
"c) Cross-checking off-ball is not allowed without equal pressure.
(Note) 1: A defender who cross-checks a player, who is in a stationary position
and not in possession of the ball shall be assessed a penalty.
(Note) 2: A player who uses excessive unequal pressure and force to cross check
a non-stationary opponent not in possession of the ball, shall be assessed a
penalty."
Now, in what other lacrosse-like game are you not allowed to hit a player when he is standing in your own end without the ball? This was implimented last year after New York deicided to field a team of mostly college players.

John Grant plays MLL for the money. Lacrosse is how he makes his living. Just wondering the last time you were at an OLA game. Grant has been playing all year. He's also played in years that Peterborough didn't make the Mann Cup, years that they've won and lost it, and has never weasled his way into anything. It was an organizational decision that had him on the floor four times and, has stated that in not practicing with the team all year he wasn't much of a help in the Western Series of which you speak.
Attack a player with no talent and you might have an argument, but attacking the best player in the game is a little juvenile and far fetched.
Granted, Grant is the best player in the game but his atitude towards lacrosse is nothing near the best. In the last 4 years he has played a total of 20 regular season games for Peterborough out of the 72 they have played. Fine, he doesn't have time to play for them but somehow he has managed to make time for the 41 playoff games he's played in during that time stretch and that's not even counting this year.
For someone with LOTS of talent, he sure has got some atitude. From cheapshotting players to dropping his pants in front of a crowd, he's certainly not the most respectable player when it comes to personality.
I'll say it again;I admire the player, despise the man.

is it me or did this thread get hijacked by JGJ haters??
back on topic: i dont think hes talking about box lacrosse, otherwise he probably would have said box lacrosse. Indoor is just field lacrosse without longpoles im pretty sure

come on....you obviously knew what he meant
although i do think its different from 'normal field'. lol. i think indoor is played with 2 attack, 2 middies, and 2 poles
