before u all just say the cheap aluminum shafts, STX al6000 etc., also consider the worst deal on a shaft (like expensive shafts ending up as dented scrap).

a starting opinion, Brine Ignite's, ALL OF THEM!!! supra or w/e they suck.

Any shaft with an added grip (not talking about things such as the dB803's octagonal grip or the Talon shafts' Kanuga grip, I mean like the Diamond, Swizzle, etc.).
I don't think the Diamond grip really wears down that much.

The Diamond "grip" isn't actually added, in the literal sense. I believe it's a sand-blasted (or something like that) K-Pro. So it is in fact even lighter than the K-Pro, and has the grip.

diamond grips do wear down. everything does, tape does even. But is it worth the extra money? my diamond that ive had for 3 years now is still goin strong, diamond grip is worth it. it stays with it for a looong time...

and infact, first gen optras are beasts. ive taken on many a goal post, and not much damage.

worst shaft for me. crankshaft 2.

Following that...the Harrow I-beam.

I use a splitshaft on my shorty, definitely not worth the extra money. I got mine cheap on ebay and I have had a great experience with it as it is lighter than taping up half of my shaft, but if I were to buy it new the price difference between this and a krypto is not worth the benefit.

its always amusing to see people stand up for ignite optras and supra's and craptra's. they all are garbage compared to other company's compeating shaft, Platinum kills ignites, and klytes and kpros kill optra's and supra's (done know which is which with brine... they all crap anyway since the loss of the F series... minus a couple decent ones). and thats just warroir, stx competing shafts kick there *** too, scandium is amazing.

I can understand why you say that, I mean, no shaft is really worth 120$, but for myself, I bought a titan classic for 60$ and its been great. It has great performance, thats what I think this thread is geared towards.

Not true again, the Iggy Supra and Iggy Optra hold up great, it's the regular Ignite that dents like no other. I hate that thing, but I love my Supra.

My vote for worst shafts would have to go to Swizzles, LevitaTIon, and SplitShaft.

got my levitation on ebay for $90 new and as of now i have used it for six years (of fall, winter, spring, and summer lacrosse). It has dents, but nothing so big that it makes it harder to play with. Mabie the original levi (mine is the first year) is better than current ones, but I love mine.

As for the worst shaft I'm gonna have to go with the diamond. I've just seen so many of them break.

BRINE IGNITE IS WORST! Mine was completely bent to one side and developed dents on just simple slap checks. These things break like twigs! The biggest rip off is the LevitaTIon in my opinion.

D4LIFE
06-23-2007, 07:56 PM
ignites = crap. doesn't matter what make, they dont compete with the other shafts that are same price from other company's. i wish i had some pics of any of my teammates old ignites optra's, they are crap too. people bought them cause they tards and they didn't want to buy online so there was nothing else at the local store. 3 people on are team had them, none made it through the first 5 games. i broke one with a wrap check in practice (i think it had a crack in it already or something). are goalies stick was funniest ever, i g2 see if he still has it, it got hit bye a shot and that spot just squished more than half way threw, its all bent from it and stuff... its hilarious. the third one just got like 5 or 6 huge dents and was getting very unusable.

LaxDuex

heres how the ignite series runs down compared to the F series shafts (f-15, f-22, f-55). Ignite basic: sucks, terrible. And that really isnt a prefrence, yeah theyre light but i have seen plenty of them break or bend really easily. a goalie at the camp i went to bought one the first day of camp and by the end of the week it was already bent in one spot and generally dinged up all along it. Ignite supra- a very good shaft in my experience. Kids on my team has it and from what i can tell its very much like the old F-22, a lot like the kryptolyte. ignite optra: its made from the same stuff as the krypto-pro, and its very light. Starting attackman on my team has one and there is only one dent, its got a nice feel to it as well. its a lot like the original f-55.

D4LIFE
06-23-2007, 10:45 PM
ok, since we all know ignites a crap... i will speak on it one last time. the ignite series was made with chinese metal to increase profit, that is fact. the usually accepted opinion, the ignite series is worse because of it and worse than the F series and other company's competitors, klyte beats supra, kpro beats optra, STX scandium beats both, 803's are good... cant compare as havent got mine yet.

i'm in agreement you guys that the split shafts blow but alot of guys in my area swear by them(if you know what i mean by that)

I don't see the point of the grip on the lower half i personaly would much rather have it on the upper half i think it would help with one hand cradling and shot power but aparently warrior thinks other wise. i don't know about you guys but i like the stronger grip to be with my top hand

The Brine Ignite series, My brother won one at a camp and bent it, also made huge dents in it playing around with it in the back yard. While trying to bend it back it snapped into 2 pieces, i have also seen two other ignite d-poles break, one at adirondack tryouts and another at a tournament.

Quoted for emphasis.

The worst has to be the swizzle. They suck and dent easily. Brine has their "swizzle" my nizzle shizzle and Warrior has their Pimpslap-o-roonie crap. STX has had a great run in my opinion.

STX made an old, offset shaft MANY years ago--but it never caught on, and was eventually discontinued.

There was also a graphite shaft made late 80s-early 90s that was also quite a failure, since it was so weak.

I'd put those two on my list, even though they had good intentions and were a little ahead of their time. It's good to take chances, but failure is always a possibility...
