i'm a rising senior coming out of georgia trying to play in college, so i'm trying to go to camps and do that whole thing as well as e-mail coaches and send them videos..the whole shabang i guess you could say. i'm already attending top star and the tri-state tournament this summer, but i feel like it'd be good to go to another camp just to get more exposure. so heres my questions: a)do any of you know whether or not itd be too late to sign up for champ camp? b)do you think it'd even be worth the money to go to champ camp as an independent? c)do any of you know of any other recruiting camps, combines, tournaments, whatever that i might still be able to get into and would be worth the money?

Would not recommend you going with the "independent" team. The team always has a poor record, takes a beating. and quickly gets assigned to distant fields.

I would really like to know the answers to a) and b) also, so anyone has any idea please post

I don't see why it wouldn't be NFHS, it is all high school teams.

A lot of places for recruiting use NCAA because it gives college coaches a more realistic feel for the players.

whats the difference between NFHS and NCAA besides the time?

from my understanding Champ Camp is one of the biggest recruiting camps of the summer. Tons of college coaches from every division are there looking to add to their rosters. The competition is some of the best that anyone could face at the high school level. I also understand that mostly club, all-star, or high school teams go. There is only one independent team and I think the rest of the teams are invited or selected by a committee of some sort. This is the website http://www.champcamp.com/

Any high-profile players on The Dukes?

Matt Mackrides made U-19 team and Blye and Borror were invited to try out.

There were alot of Dukes players on other teams at Champ Camp. Some on Archies, Headstrong and at large team. Probably some HS teams too.

If memory serves me Correctly Crossroads Shut you guys out in the second half, i dont think any of you scored on their second goalie, Ryan brant from dematha, they made to the championship, and he only allowed 2 goals in that game

anyone know what happen to 2 Knights? I was in an elevator that went to their floor and they were getting screamed at.

Also, i think its a little unfair for Crossroads to have 20 year old kids on that team. If they can do it, then why cant anyone else? Just my opinion.

Yeah it was a Tri-State Team. Tri-State green got caught playing pong in their room. I was right below them. Sucks for those kids, they are blacklisted from everywhere now.

and Hoyalax, it wasn't my tri-state team, that was tri-state blue.

i kinda find that funny. i think dixie had a girl on their floor. i wasnt sure if she was a sister or a girlfriend but i heard some dude yelling about it.

Just to clarify thats Madlax's 3rd best team. Their best team just lost to Landon in OT at the STX tourney. So dont think you are good for barely losing to one of madlax's "not so good" teams.

What kind of pong are we talking about? Definitely makes a difference and I can see why they would get in massive amounts of trouble.

Who was 20 on Crossroads? Ive played with them for two years and the oldest guy would be 19 because hes taking a PG year at taft.

I guess you could say pong is bad thing.

In your free time, outside of camp/tourney, it's not something a lot of people care about and I'm sure many laxers participate in.... but, when you're at a lacrosse camp as a camper or anything like that, underage drinking is not going to fly. It's just stupid to even try, I don't know why they would even do it at a lacrosse camp. Out of all the camps I've been to, I can't say I've ever met anyone who has attempted playing pong or other drinking related games. At least have some self control and wait until the camp is over.

so I checked out the website and it is not very informative, is the thing a tournament with a bunch of teams that are already together? (discluding the independants, who are from what I understand the people who are not with a team)?

I can assure you that the oldest kid on crossroads was 18 meaning just graduated highschool and is taking a pg year due to getting hurt during the season. No one was 20...

I understand where you are coming from with that lillaxgirl. I just have opinions against the drinking age because I frequently travel out of the country and see how other countries such as Italy operate with alcohol.

Anyways what does a pg year mean? Kind of like what the Duke players are possibly going to do?

I'm sure many of us have opinions on the drinking laws, and I too have traveled many times outside of this country and have written papers on the laws, but regardless of what you or I believe, it's still a lacrosse camp and it's still illegal in the US. That combination is not going to get someone far, so I guess I'm just pointing out what a stupid thing it was to do. Whether you believe it to be right or wrong outside of the laws is a completely different story. They had to have known that if they were to be caught, it wouldn't be pretty, so I don't know why they would even try it. That's all I'm trying to say. It may not be "bad" to you or I, but it's definitely not going to look good in a camp director's eyes.

Also, a PG year is a post-graduate year, which is basically an extra year of high school. It's used for different reasons from getting grades up to just maturing more before heading off to college.

And to add my two cents; in light of what happened at Duke last year we must all realize the scrutiny that we as players will be under for the foreseeable future. You have to believe that coaches, more then ever, will be looking at the character of the players they recruit in addition to academics and athletics. If what these players allegedly did is true, they may well have ended their college careers before they even started for a few bottles of beer. :chair:

Not only did they pull this in your game, but they called for a stick check in another game and then one of their players stole the stick - class organization!
