Ok well alot of people have been talking on how to keep up their wooden sticks and they have questions about wooden sticks so I figured to make one on how to matain your wooden shaft.

To start out they will get dented, however you can get these out by 2 ways. Way 1 take a damp paper towel or cloth and lay it over the dent till it comes out. The other way is play with it outside when it is raining.

Now with bad dents or when they pop out you sometines get left with a jagged edge. This edge if left can caus damage to you and/or the stick. If it gets caught it can pull and rip off some of the wood or get caught in your hand or glove. For this all you need is some fine sand paper and sand the jagged edge till it goes away.

After

(Sorry for such large pics but i made them this big so you can see the jagged edge good. Mods if you want me to post links or thumbnails instead just tell me and I will.)

Some other good care techniques are make shure you leve it in a dry place, and do not try to put on or take off if the air is humid. Also it would be a good idea to sand down every half a year or year completly and refinish it. For this you can use poly or what I use it Tung oil, both work good.

If anyone has any more questions jut post in this thread.

this should be sticky-ed. What grit of sandpaper for just dents and dings, and what grit for full refinish? i was thinking like 300-600 for little. and 100 grit for beginning and getting finer and finer till smooth as a babies arse.

How I care for my woodie every few months

I use 100 grit to remove large defects.

I then switch to 250+ grit to make it smoother.

I take a rag and put a sealant and rub it on the wodie.

I roll up a piece of brown paper sack and wrap it around the shaft and rub in the finish and it makes it nice and smooth.

Don't roll up sand paper and rub it around the shaft, as it will change the shape of the grip.

MVHSlax it really depends on the size of the dent I normally use 150-200 and to full refinish do you mean to renove the poly or after you poly? because after I would go for something like emery cloth which is very fine and Before I would say around 200.

BK_Knights_9 I do the same but just use 150 insead of 100.
