im only in 10th grade but im wodering what i need to do to turn myself into a college level midfielder. I already practice a couple hours a day. I usually shoot about 2 hours every other day and play at the wall about the same amount. In addition, i run every day and do sprints. i am also on a local select team that plays a few games a week.
i was just wondering what else i can do to become a better player any advise at all will help. and if anyone knows what would help me get recruited into syracuse university that would be great.

in case one hand isn't as strong as the other you could have a righty day and then you could have a lefty day the next day.

There is a kid we played against the past few years who just finished up his freshman year at Syracuse. He scored 103 points in his senior year of HS playing agianst teams like Garden City, Huntington, Manhasset etc... He made it off the bench only a handful of time this season for the Orange. Out of thousands of kids, there are only a few that can play there, and I guarantee you, whatever they did to practice in HS, its 4 times more than what you are doing. You should be out there every day, not every other day, for hours and hours, you might not notice anything for the first months, or even year, but believe me, sooner than you think, you will notice a difference.

get good with your left hand,
run, ALOT since youre a middie
i would tell you to count how many shots you take or how many times you pass for wallball instead of how long you do it for in order to establish a standard (try 200 quality shots everyday if youre up for it)

Do you want you would normally do to prepare for the upcoming season. Now do it 5x faster and push yourself 5x harder and thats one of their practices. You can't jog anytime, anything you do must be your best foot foward at full speed.

Do all that and than get your speed and your size up. Coaches love a middie who is just as much of an offensive threat as an attackman with size and they love a middie who is big enough that he can knock other attack/middies around when playin D.

not that this has to do with how to get recruited, but this kid on my team 2 years ago was outstanging in highschool (97 goals, 30 assists) and went to tx state and dominated there too. now hes getting calls from syracuse, and umass and stuff. he would constantly have his stick in his hand 24/7. he brought it to school everyday

yeah i do need to get my size up because im about 6 ft tall but i only weigh 150. but i run like 30 miles a week so i got that down. do you think shooting about 300 shots a day is enough?

i know but i eat two dinners a night and eat whatever i want. i think that running almost everyday prevents me from gaining weight. it kinda sucks

This might sound blunt...
You need to be a God. You need to wow EVERYONE, with speed, agility, fakes, passing, etc. You just need to be an amazing rounded player.

thanks LaxHandle ill try those shakes to gain weight and muscle. i just got back from shooting and was wondering do you think behind the back shooting and passing is important or not really?
my stats were not that good but i dont have them exact. but i know i was the second highest scorer on my jv team and the first highest scoring middie. i know you are prolly wondering how i want to go to syracuse and didnt make my schools varsity team as a frosh. its kinda weird cause at tryouts i beat so many pple on one on ones but then they split it up into 9-10(JV) and11-12(varsity) so i didnt have a choice.

If you really want to get into syracuse do everything everyone listed above, and DONT BEAT AROUND THE BUSH. find out the mailing adress to syracuse that will lead to any coach on the lacrosse team. send them anything youmight feel will help like a tape of one of your games and even one of your work out seccsions. coachs like to see a player that works hard. also you say you run 30 miles a week. keep adding. add a mile a week. Just dont go crazy on the protein shakes and getting your body to change. sometimes you do alot of damage and you gotta learn how to play better then people w/ the body you have. Also i think you mentioned your a freshmen going to be a sophmore. more the reason not to go crazy lifting and drinking shakes. Listen to your body when it says enough and slow down.
Hope this helps
