View Full Version : Holes in a Woody?

I just thought of an idea to make a woody lighter. Kinda like a SC Air, drill holes in the shaft. I was thinking you could alternate, top, side, top, side, but evenly spaced so it doesnt become weak.
What are your thoughts?

Stability would be vastly compromised, not to mention it would look like swiss cheese. I would stay away from it.

i'm with endless.
i'd still like to try boring one out and putting a carbon rod down the middle, though, but smaller than the hole, then fill the gaps with a caulk of sorts

It wouldn't work. Someone on here tried it, and it became a useless piece of wood.

thats not a bad idea, it might make it more sturdy.. but you would have to use something good like a lathe to get a perfect hole down the middle.

JazzyJake's idea sounds pretty good, but what about simply corking the shaft? It would be lighter, but would it compromise the strength like the holes would?
