I'm new to lacrosse and am practicing my dodges and when i try to split dodge the ball always falls out. i have read a lot of the dodging forums and none of them have really helped me. my problem i think is switching hands while keeping the ball in the pocket. any advice will help a bunch

try practicing it at about 1/2 speed and then when you get the hang of it move up to 3/4's speed and then full speed also having a body or dodging against trees etc. works wonders

when i do it really slow i can but my problem is switching hands. do you throw the stick with your top hand and let your bottom hand slide up the shaft or what?

I was always told to "sheath the sword." When you cut back just let the bottom hand slide up the shaft and hold it at your hip.

Buy the Mark Millon DVD, "Offensive Wizardry". Million is known for the split dodge. He gives step by step instructions to improve the mechanics involved in most of the well-known dodges as well as shooting etc. If you're new to the game the info should shed a lot of light. (Then practice the move about 5000 times- the split is one of the more difficult dodges) Good luck
