Sidewall question

when people say 1112112 or something like that is that how many times you go through the mesh? like would the 2s be doubling up and so on?
if not can you clear this up for me?
and if that is right whats a good one that you use?

yea its like you go through one mesh hole before the next sidewall hole and if it says 2 then its two mesh holes. hope that clears it up
