Condition 1: Commitment to 2,500 season tickets by July 19.
Condition 2: Secure arena deal

Condition 1 is going well but we still need more tickets to be committed to. Ravens are taking deposits on season ticket requests for the amount of $25 per seat. Prices are $18, $24 or $30 per ticket times eight home games. Very reasonable in price.

Condition 2 is being worked on and hopefully will be done soon. The only two arenas that meet NLL requirements and they are the Colliseum and GM Place.

Go to www.ravenslacrosse.com to book season tickets
Go to http://www.stickmenlacrosse.com/newsletters/news_ravens.html for more info on conditional approval.

I think they will use the same logo because they are selling the season tickets off of VancouverRavens.com so it might be the same But I hope they get a new logo.

Everything will be that of the original Ravens team. This is not a new team but a resurrection of the original team. Thus logo, name etc will remain. Personally I think it's one of the best around.

You seem to be in the know Bird, any good news coming out of Vancouver lately?

I think they should try and market the team better. I have only seen it once on sportsnet, they did a spot on the ravens coming back. But, other than that, no tv commercials, no radio commercials no newspots no nothing.

Because they have not met the conditions to be fully excepted by the league they will not form a legal entity (taking on the previous debt, paying fees etc). Thus there is no employees, marketing funds etc.

The team is supported by the fans and ticket sales are good. however an agreement with the PNE has not proceeded as planned and talks are on with GM place and their people. If an arena deal can be signed then on July 19th the league will give their official stamp of approval and then you will see marketing and positive coverage.

Things are tight but if an arena deal can be done then it's a go for 2007-8 season.

Are there any other arenas in BC they could use? Anything in Victoria they could use?

Looking on a WLA form it looks like they are having alot of issues drawing fans on the island or in any of the outlying SR A arena's They are probably required by the league to have a 10 - 15k seat barn anyhow.

The only two arenas in Vancouver area that would work are the Coliseum and GM Place. As dedicated a lax community is in Victoria they would not be able to meet the numbers required to make it work there.

While I am not a Vancouver fan, I was looking forward to seeing another new team, however with talk about not getting the PC lease I sure hope they are able to get the other arena....I would be one pissed off fan if I bought my season tickets only to be told "just kidding":ahhno:

GENERAL MOTORS PLACE TO SERVE AS HOME FOR NEW VANCOUVER RAVENS LACROSSE FRANCHISE
...conditionally-approved new National Lacrosse League franchise meets one of two major conditions set by league in bid to operate in 2008

VANCOUVER (MONDAY, July 16, 2007) - General Motors Place, the premiere sports & entertainment venue in British Columbia, will serve as home venue for the new Vancouver Ravens, the proposed National Lacrosse League franchise bidding to return to action in January of 2008.

The new franchise received conditional approval from the Board of Governors of the National Lacrosse League on June 19th and was given 30 days to satisfy a series of conditions in order to operate for the 2008 NLL season. The two major conditions identified by the league were the sale of 2,500 Season Tickets by July 19th and the submission of an arena rental agreement meeting NLL standards and expectations.

"Subject to our full approval by the Board of Governors of the National Lacrosse League this week, we're pleased to confirm our intent to play our home games at General Motors Place," said Bob Whitsitt, General Partner of Northwest Lacrosse LP, the proposed ownership group for the new Vancouver Ravens. "Given how important this condition was in the approval of our plan to bring the NLL back to Vancouver, we're very pleased with the approach and commitment of Orca Bay Sports & Entertainment in support of the new Vancouver Ravens and all British Columbia lacrosse fans."

In order to reach the second major condition for approval, British Columbia lacrosse fans have been showing their support by reserving Season Tickets for priority seating. Deposits of $25 per ticket are being accepted IN TRUST and are first-come, first-served on the priority wait list. Fans are able to make deposits at www.ravenslacrosse.com.

Despite not being able to announce a confirmed venue until today, the franchise has already received more than 1,000 Season Ticket deposits and has written commitments for another 1,500 which it hopes to convert by the Thursday deadline.

General Motors Place is owned and operated by Orca Bay and is regarded as one of the premiere venues in North America. It is the home of the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League and regularly hosts the biggest concerts on tour. With a capacity of 18,630 for hockey and lacrosse -- with Lower Bowl seating capacity for 9,000 -- it has also served as host venue for the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships and NHL All-Star Game and will host hockey at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

We still need to make the 2,500 season ticket commitment!

I hope they get it. I liked the Ravens. 1,500 hundred tickets in 4 days is alot to ask.

On a side note: Word is the Titans will play all games at MSG this year.

That is good news. Splitting their home schedual wasn't good for the fan base.

I think the big thing is for VanLax fans to not sit back and let someone else do the heavy lifting. Get those tickets purchased and get your seats in the seats.

V,BC is officially on the list of NLL host cities I plan on visiting in the next couple of years!

Serious? I thought on the Insidelacrosse site they said it would go down any day now.

Couldn't they just get a corporate sponsor to buy 500 season tickets?

wasn't the seats ,I think it was debts??

They league approved the franchise. Met the requirements of money, arena and seat sales. This issue was in lay men terms: basically the company that owned the old franchise was never closed down and the company that was to buy it would possibly inherit some unforeseen debts and costs.

If there was a longer time line it might have gotten done. Hope for next year.
