Today i played in front of my first college coach. we didnt do much. im friends with most of the players on the team. it was pretty chill. we hit alot of corners and took alot of shots. then we played a big game of PIG. which i won on a Jumpthrough then between the legs shot.
the only time i really thought i was being evaluated was at one point during the day, he got like 5 balls in front of me, and told me to shoot them all at the top left corner.
i hit 4, the other one was way off. i cranked as hard as i could.
after that he said he was glad that i had cranked my hardest. he said that that is a good thing to do in front of a prospective coach. try your hardest to hit the spot he wants you to hit, but dont sacrifice any speed to hit the mark.
So...
on to the point of this thread.
i want to know if any of your guys have tips from coaches about what to do when playing in front of a prospective coach.

Who evaluates players like that?
a coach who is looking for some REALLY good consistent shooters.

So you can shoot without gloves/pads and no defense? It doesn't make sense.

it wasnt a tryout. as i said, i am friends with players on the team. we just went and threw around. it wasnt a huge evaluation. it wasnt a tryout. he just wanted to get a feel for my game.

What game? I don't see anything special when I'm at the restraining line wrap checking the hell out of you. :chuckle:

If it was not a tryout, why did you choose it as the title of this thread?

I think the point of the thread is asking if you've ever gotten advice from a coach on what looks good during an evaluation/try out situation. His was, don't hold back or play it safe.

yeah. if you get an impromptu evaluation. a meet and greet. what do you do? do you hit 5/5 at not quite full speed? or do you hit 3/5 or 4/5 with every ounce of power in your shot.
