I was just wondering. Can a club team play a varsity team. because st.thomas just went varsity and them and my school cypress bay have a rivalry in evry sport and it would suck if we cant play them

They can play but it won't count on their league record.

I don't think you will even see this happen...V teams do not want to have their FHSAA standing put at risk. Just my .02

In California, Club can not play state sanctioned teams. Nothing happens to the club team but the state sanctioned team would suffer the consequences. State sanction teams from outside California are not allowed to play California club teams either

A scrimage without the varsity coaches attending....maybe

If it doesn't count in a varsity team's record, then it wouldn't hurt their rankings since there is no associated ranking for the club team.

I dont see why not...it wouldnt count against you or them however because i've seen highschool teams go against some college teams not any D1 schools but still college teams.

FYI- Varsity teams may not play club teams. Cypress Bay will not meet STA again until Cypress Bay becomes a varsity team. That said, if a club made up of CB kids played a club made up of STA kids... well, you know.
