Now I have no problems with most mods but I was just wondering, why are there 14 year old mods and young ages like that? I think that mods should be older and maybe thats why people often feel there is a moderator dictatorship and that the young moderators abuse their power. Does anyone else feel the same or am I just talking crazy talk?
i guess it depends on how good their posts are and if they follow the rules.

Yup.14 years old is frehsman in high school. Age shouldnt matter. Everybody is equal and it should be on who makes good posts and does good stuff on the forums.

So what, if they do the job well, they deserve it....everyone has to just stop whining about mods when something doesn't go their way.

nothing went wrong, I was just wondering. Also since many of the frequent posters are leaving because of a mod dictatorship and there is even a thread in here about this I was thinking that maybe if the people were older, there would be less people leaving and less people angry. It really doesn't bother me, it was something I was just thinking about
also this is probaly not going to be the best thread since so far the kids taking offense are guess what, 14 and 15.

What makes you think older mods=less strict, more freedom?
Your logic doesn't make sense to me.....the rules are still the same, and no mod will warn you if you don't break a rule.
And sorry bud, I'm not 14.

And sorry bud, I'm not 14. I think he's assuming that age = maturity, which isn't an unreasonable assumption. Personally, I think all of the younger mods do fine. It's the older mods you need to worry about (no sense of humor).

But if you think about it, maturity has nothing to do with it...the rules are the same, noone will warn you if a rule wasn't broken, they can't, and won't, becuase if they were truley immature, they wouldn't be mods.

For the record, our oldest moderators are easily the strictest, and I don't think that's debatable at all. And for the most part, we have picked out the older members of the forum:
3PP
Spenny
FLD
Hooli
Shiftylax
Stegmakk
Cburylax
Enjoi
#15Roadies
Bobsch
CTLaxer
KnightsLaxDad
LAXgoalHVLA
LaxRef
RIT37FO
roycegracie47
st1acrosse99
stinisonfire
twin58
ALL of the above moderators are at least 20 years old, many into their late 20's, 30's, and even early 40's. That doesn't leave many young moderators left.
on a side note--what ever happened to orange??

what mods "abuse their powers"
and who are young mods?
i've never taken the time to care, or to look cause age doesn't matter, it's the quality of the poster

i just looked at the 1st couple mods on the list and
EndlesFimbulvet is a year older than me, and he's a great guy, i've traded with him and he's a very knowledgeable poster
ghs/wylax-haven't really talked to him but i've never seen him "abuse his power" and i'm sure he doesn't
is there anyone else young? and who are you talking about specifically?

I dont think age has anything to do with it. I think maturity and overall knowledge, along with other things should be taken into consideration before age is intoduced as a variable. Sure it may be an underlying 'foot note' but I dont think that it should be a determining factor as long as ther person is mature. Not mature for their age, but mature.

yeah, he's a great guy too, i've traded with hima nd he's very professional and a great poster. i think the other 2 are sammy and slinky but i've never seen them abuse their power either
and it's hard to tell cause a lot of the other mods/supermods keep the year of their birth out of their profiles

So it doesn't bother you, but you made a thread about it because you saw LiquidMercury make a thread about mods in general running the place?
So what, if they do the job well, they deserve it....everyone has to just stop whining about mods when something doesn't go their way. I think the argument would be that a less mature person would take something personally while a mature person would keep a level head.

tip/murder....this proves I am a TLF regular, I got noted in another thread I didn't even start/speak in (8).
As far as my thread goes, I was presenting some issues that I have had with current policy that has "changed" over the years I have been here. I presented my arguement with respect to all mods, young and old. Do not bring my thread up as a guideline of how to go about things. In my old age and in my length of time being here I have come to know most of the mods here with the exception of the youngins and have respect for all they do and made a thread addressing all the mods as a whole for the reason that I wanted all input from all those that I know. CT, unfortunately what you are doing is just whining. Where is your arguement? Not to be a dick, but this thread is more of a rant. Do I think that mods should be older? Generally yes, but if a younger member has stepped up to the plate and proved to be a mature and responsible poster than I'm all for it. Some could argue that even in my age (21) I do not post maturely at times....maybe why I haven't been asked to be a mod heh. So appreciate what they do for us and stop whining that they are one and you are not. Honestly from post quality of the younger mods in comparison to yours they have put forth and contributed much more quality to the forums.
So in conclusion, respect the mods, young and old, close this thread for it brings bad light to my thread that was a delicate subject at best and at least thought out.

Lord, imagine if 40-something MBA's like myself with a parent's limited patience for inane dialogue were running this madhouse. Incomplete thoughts, unsupported opinions, bad spelling, juvenile grammar, and implied stupidity would be purged. We'd have a nice grown-up, civilized board filled with exclusively admirable posts. Mebbe 10 a day.
Tell you what, CT. If you feel that you are being victimized by some 'Lord of the Flies' oligarchy here, PM me with a link to the posts in question and I'll take a look. If you're adding value and being repressed, I'll go to bat for you. I've managed to aggravate a good proportion of my fellow mods already, and am willing to unsettle the rest if there's a valid issue.
However, if you want explicitly clear violations of published rules and guidelines defended, don't waste my time. If you want inane posts of no discernable value to the promotion or discussion of Lacrosse restored, look elsewhere for advice.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm part of a well qualified, well disciplined team of moderators who enforce the guidelines of the board managers with alacrity. We may make mistakes, but from now on try to elevate internally rather than suggesting that my team is immature. Until I am a 'retired moderator', I assure you that 'juvenile' is not an adjective that will ever fit our team.

i think ive wrote this 30 times, I was curious about it since on the other forums I go to, you have to be 21 to be a moderator and they never have the problems that this has sometimes.
for you 3 moderators, sorry i didnt mean to bring you out like that i just had some questions

This is the final thing I'm going to say.
Age has nothing to do with maturity. Like LM16 said, he's 21 and doesn't always post maturely. I'm 21 and I'm rarely mature in general. If you want to see someone fool you, look at anything Marf has posted (for the most part) and try to guess his age. I seriously thought he was in college / upper high school for a good couple of months until I found out how old he really was.
