Mikey Powell Freestyle Goal

i tried searching and nothing came up so.

does anyone know a link to the goal mikey powell had in the free styles i taped the game and freestyle part and my DVR had a meltdown so if anyone has a link to it that would be very helpful i heard it was amazing. :chair:

dude it wasnt that great IMO, he does flips on like every trick he tries and people continue to congratulate him for that, if people werent scared that he was going to say that they copied him other people would do some flips and win 1000 dollars. That man is truely overated, an amazing lacrosse player but needs to come up with something different in the freestyle. but i do have to say that the last goal he scored ( and the only goal he scored) in the real all-star game was pretty amazing. anyone got a clip of that?

yeah its cool to watch him flip but to make him so great every time he does it is over rated he is a great lacrosse player though.

I don't see why he does the flips. They don't tie into the shot at all. He's just running and then hey, its a flip! Then he keeps running. So he can flip with a lacrosse stick. Good for him. But it doesn't flow at all.

That goal does not deserve a thread. His flips are getting boring I have seen high school players whose goals make that look like nothing.

yeah i agree. he did a flip last year, and when he was at SU if if i remember; why doesn't he try something new? anyone have a clip of his first attempt, i forget what it was. oh yeah, and his goal at the end of the game was WAY better than his freestyle because it was an actual game situation in which he used his "acrobatics"

If anyone watched the beggining of the freestyle competition he tried another move and he messed up. He might have been trying something without the flip but he screwed up so he pulled the flip out of his bag of tricks and ended up winning the freestyle competition.

i think he should go on youtube and search tricking and take some notes there i think then he could really spice up his tricks while still having some kind of flip in his act

it was two flips actualy.... its not as impressive as it used to be so he went with two... i think next year itll be three.. and he will just keep taking them on untill it looks like highschool gymnastics and not pro lacrosse

It was pretty desperate IMO, since his first attempt was not good. He just did two flips that were nothing spectacular, to a between the legs air gait type of thing. Matt Ward was leading it up to that point with what i believe was some type of an inside roll or something, so it wasn't super hard to top that. He should have mixed it up and gone back for a second try at the first trick, oh well it he dosen't make his second attempt, he can't be the reigning champion forever.

After watching the 2006 video also, its like all the other players just screw around so that Mikey will win. They almost hand him the competition without even doing his best. I could do better tricks than half of the guys did, no joke

I think he was acting like it was in rewind like they do on highlight reels. Im not sure though. I liked how the announcer said, " and the leader in the freestyle competition is Matt Ward with an inside roll." I though it was pretty funny

He basically played it safe the first time since everyone else was trying some amazing trick. Ward pretty much did his move than rewinded it like KU said.

yeah i can you just have to be somewhat athletic to do a flip it is not hard at all and alot of people can jump and put the stick through their legs and an air gait is really easy. He is an amazing lacrosse player but i think people could definitely be more creative than he is in the freestyle, and whoever posted that the others hardly tried is completely correct, thats what it looked like to me. two of them did like a backbreaker, like 1 out of 5 high school players can do that. I just want him to do something amazing, he is capable of it, but for 1000$ that was nothing.

it was the shot that he did against new jersey where he dove from the opposite side of the goal behind the goal and scored. I dont know what i would call it i am gonna start a thread on it though.
