The prices on these jerseys are way to high IMO. mikey powells jersey price is already up to 365$ and 710$ for matt poskay. and the auction doesnt end until the 18th. Would you pay this amount for a jersey. or any other opinions on this.:jawdrop:

Well for one, someone has already bidded $365 for the Powell jersey, so apparently the prices aren't too outrageous.
Second of all, the proceeds are going to the Wounded Warrior Project, so I have no problem whatsoever paying several hundred bucks to fund a good cause. This isn't supposed to be an affordable outlet-it's a silent auction for charity.

And, just shows that lacrosse has some Die-hard fans who are willing to pay out the pocket to help a good cause and take home some memories.

i wish i had the cash to bid for one, its an awesome souvenir and its going for a GREAT cause....

Poskay $710, must be 2 Virginia fans duking it out. I would probably pony up the cash for A11's jersey, but it didn't have his name on it in the game, so no. They are signed right? And why does Kyle Harrison's end a week earlier and is listed at the bottom of the page? EDIT: nvm, that's a stupid idea, what about the people that live on the west coast who never get to see there favorite player play, and they want some memorabilia?
Lax101, are you saying you placed a bid?

yeah, i think its perfectly acceptable to pay that much for a jersey for a couple reasons.
1.) great cause, so keep on bidding, whoever is
2.) great memorabilia (first time east v west; i think it really shows the growth of the game with the western expansion.)

actually, after i think about it, imagine how much these jerseys are going to be worth in like 15- 20 years. Lacrosse is going to be one of the biggest sports in the world if not the biggest because it is the fastest growing sport in the world. And it was the first year there was east vs. west. These things are selling right nowfor really high and are going to be over 1000$ for probably every player at the end of the auction. Actually this could be a huge profit for anyone who has that much money lying around, unlike me. I guess im just jealous

Just because, it is the first East v West doesn't make them any more important than all the games before. It's no like the first time the NL played the AL, my guess is they won't be worth anything more than $1000, ever. I have stuff from the MLL SUmmer Showcase, mind telling me how much it'll be worth?
And what's up with selling 'game used' jersey's for players that didn't play in the game?

Keep in mind that an MLL jersey would cost you probably close to $100 without anything special about it. Seeing as to how the jerseys are signed, worn in an MLL All-Star Game, and probably the only kind in that style (camo), it seems pretty reasonable to pay a few hundred for one. Plus, your money goes to charity.

I love how Alex Smith's jersey is like $500 more than everyone else, and...
a)kyle dixon wore 11 so its not even his real number
b) he was only an alternate untill someone got hurt
c)it doesnt have his name on the back

Very, very cool idea. I love to see lacrosse players contributing back to the community, as we are traditionally associated with elitist, prep savages. Hope to see more stuff like this in the future!

I think most are pretty normally priced for an auction. These jerseys are signed, benefit a good cause, and are probably the only ones ever to be made. But, the jerseys like Alex Smith's, Matt Poskay's, and Kyle Harrison's are ridiculous at upwards of $500! Eh, but if someone is willing to pay that much, the more power to them.

alex smith is clearly buying his own jersey, he loves himself and his accomplishments and he needs more memorabilia to hang in his häagen-dazs store.

i wonder how many of the people that put in a bid actually thought about the charity along with merely wanting the jersey for themselves...i'm not trying to say that people are selfish pricks, but from what i've seen from charity auctions like this, not very many people actually care about where their money is going (maybe because they have so much of it that it doesn't matter to them) and are simply interested in whatever it is they're getting. i dunno, i guess where i live also makes me a bit biased...i live around princeton, nj, so that might explain it...or maybe whatever it is that's being auctioned off is so darn cool and awesome that people forget that their money is going toward a charity...that might be it, too, i guess...

Well I think the people must care about what their getting. People wouldn't bid hundreds of dollars on a paperclip, or something irrelevant, even if it did go to a good cause. That doesn't make these people selfish or anything, maybe extremely rich, but I don't think they're bad people. I think you're thought that the people think the jerseys are so cool is probably whats up.
Oh, and I know you aren't saying these bidders are selfish pricks, just putting in my thoughts.

holy god i think that guy meant to put like 910$ or something no one has that kind of money. NFL and NBA jerseys would never get anywhere around that price thats impossible.

Or they are not going to pay it. Delaware Thunder baby: 1010, it would be sweet if you could bid his all time faceoff wins number.
I can get an MLL jersey for less than a $100.

That would REALLY suck if he accidently typed a extra 0. It wouldnt be the worst thing though, its going to a good place. People also forget these guys get degrees from princeton and duke etc., so they have good degrees and prolly get good jobs

It would be nice if after the auction is over that New Balance would sell the MLL All Star jersey's (one's that weren't worn in the game) and continue to put some of the proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project. Of course if they could sell them for a more affordable price than Mikey Powell's jersey is currently going for--that would be great! I'll keep dreaming.

its mikey powell trying to get his own jersey. he really wants his jersey.
BwineLAX42

Mikey doesn't have that money. He's probably in debt having to pay a whole crowd of people to come and watch his band everytime he plays. That would run up a big tab. :chuckle:

The only player I know that didn't play in the game and has their jersey in the auction is Casey Powell. It doesn't even say his jersey was "game used" in the description...Who else didn't play?

I saw that. And K18's jersey isn't done yet, the final bidding is at a Pride game. It's probably just a screen name, not really Quint. It could be though, with the Hopkins connection.
I think A11's Family is buying his uni.

What do you not understand about the purpose of this auction?
The MLL is not making a penny off of this. Many of these bidders are not doing it for the sole purpose of collecting cool memorabilia. This auction is not meant to benefit a 16 year old kid like you.
This silent auction is for the Wounded Warrior Project. Every year, the MLL connects itself with a charitable fund to help those in need. The Wounded Warrior Project is a great foundation that helps veterans injured in Iraq, losing limbs and sacrificing themselves so the 20,000+ kids on TLF can sit here and bicker over their favorite colored mesh (they're fighting in this war regardless of purpose-they'd be doing this even if it were World War III).
The MLL is not and has never advertised this as a way to get cool memorabilia. The camo jersey is just a small token in exchange for helping out an extremely just cause that has affected the lacrosse community immensely. John Fernandez, former Army Lacrosse star lost his feet in Iraq.
For the love of God people, do this for the fund and not to make some selfish profit or evaluate it as a "good deal".

they were not too high!
53K+ raised for the wounded warriors
Kudos to MLL, New Balance and every one who placed a bid
Maybe some of the other high profile leagues should take a look at what the MLL is doing here
