what does it take to get into a D II or D III school? i was lookin at mercyhurst. but do grades really play a huge role in the process (i have decent grades-average GPA of 3.1) do you need like a 4.0 GPA or straight A's? and how do you get noticed as a goalie by these teams besides sending them letters?

grades can play a role in the recruiting process. it depends what school you want to go to. you need to have decent grades to get in to most schools, but there are some exceptions, like the nescac schools in d3. with a 3.1 gpa, you should be fine at merchyhurst and a lot of other schools as long as you have decent test scores. having straight a's would help, but since youre going to be a senior it doesnt really matter anymore. go to www.collegeboard.com to look at grade stuff at different schools. as for getting noticed, im hoping that youre on a summer team or are going to some camps this summer, because this is pretty much your last chance to get noticed. you could also send some film of yourself to the schools youre interested in.

Grades are always important. Some schools more than others but still important. As far as getting noticed, you can send a letter to a coach saying you're interested in theire program and would like more information about it. If you continue contact and it seems like he is open to recruiting you can send him game video of you in goal.

Mercyhurst is a really hard school to get into, btw. You'd better have a 3.5+ and that's the type of school (top 5 D2) that will notice you if they really want you. One of my friends was goalie of the year in Ohio and I believe this year he's the starter or backup as a senior.

i think youre mistaken there. 21% of the people that go there had a gpa of 2.5-2.9, the average sat score is a 960-1160, and the average act score is 20-24. plus the acceptance rate is 79%. definitely not that hard to get into, and you certainly dont need a 3.5+.

All I know is that when I went to the junior college, all I heard was from kids who were going to the other campus because they had below a 3.0-3.3 and had to get their grades up to get into the main campus. The only thing I could think of would be that they let the out of state kids in easier for more "diversity".

If you know anyone who goes there from your area, find out what grades they had.

3.1 GPA and decent SATs will get you into M-Hurst. No Problems.
