he's asking about D3 and D2. Tuft's, RIT, and RPI are probably the best you're going to get in that level. I never hear about NYIT except for lacrosse. It's not even in my Fisk's college guide (which has like 700 colleges in it). So if you're looking for a good academic school i would say stay away.

edit: yah i just looked at collegeboard. The average SAT scores for NYIT are (writing) 430-550 and (math (470-600). They admit 86% of people who apply. Absolutely not on par with schools like Tufts.

i can give you some insight on each college if your interested..

RPI- its your best bet if your looking for engineering, most graduates come out making 80 grand a year there, but the college itself sort of sucks..its in the gut of troy NY and its like 70 percent guys, but its a sacrifice to make money afterwards

Union- Its a great college campus in schenectady which is like 20 minutes away from Troy, most of the kids party in downtown albany which helped rank Ualbany as the # 1 party school a couple years back but dropped down a couple slots the past years, its not as renouned for its engineering program but its still a great college for it.

The lax programs between the two are similiar, there D 3 but i think RPI's is better. Hope that helped a little bit!

yeah that helped some. it all depends on if i can play lax for one of the schools or not. and ive heard engineering education is a very hard program to go through so maybe just playing club would be the best bet, but im still looking into d II and dIII hopefully i can get in to one of the schools.

thanks

Does Gettysburg offer engineering?

SUNY Clarkson is a engineering school, and offers d3 lacrosse.

Suny Clarkson isnt a school. There is Clarkson University in Potsdam which is a good engineering school with D3 lax, and there is SUNY Potsdam.

Gettysburg has no engineering. It's a liberal arts school. Swarthmore and Trinity College are two more D3 schools that have engineering programs. However, Swarthmore more is incredibly difficult to get into. A 4.0 GPA and 1400 on the SATs (math and verbal combined; 2100 on the new one) might get you in. Playing lacrosse or any sport for that matter doesn't have much pull with the admissions office. Trinity is one of the easier NESCACs to get into.

For DIII, check out UMassachusetts-Dartmouth's College of Engineering. Also, I believe Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (an excellent school) over in Terra Haute, IN is adding DIII lax for next spring

Are you saying that according to the College Board, Gettysburg offers all of these majors? If so, that's not quite correct.

Gettysburg's own website says that what they offer is "dual-degree engineering programs in conjunction with Columbia University in New York City, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., and Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. In as little as five years, students can earn both a bachelor's degree from Gettysburg College and a bachelor's degree in engineering from the partner institution. Under the typical "3-2" option, students spend three years at Gettysburg and two at the partner institution."

Essentially, a student would do their core-curriculum general reqs like math, chem, physics, and non-core reqs (english, etc), at G-Burg, and then take the last 2 years of core engineering-specific courses at one of the aforementioned schools.

Certainly an option if you must go to G-burg, but in my opinion definitely would not consider this the same as studying in a full-blown 4-year engineering BSME, BSEE, etc at schools like RPI, RIT, Tufts, UMass Dartmouth, etc.

Check out the gettysburg website. No engineering department and no engineering majors. Therefore, no engineering. Gettysburg is a straight up liberal arts college. That means NO engineering.

Engineering should be between Education and English. Not seeing it.

RPI is very hard to get in but if you do the school is very good plus they do a good job of helping the frosh. get use to the town. I really like there campus and go there for symposium. Also Union is good nice campus too and I am working with one of the prof. in the computer science field and robotics. Alittel smaller and not as updated but still good.
