wats up guys,
so lax starts this week for our school. I'm a freshman along w/ a bunch of my friends that play. I really wanna play varisty(obviously! haha) but I'm not AMAZING but I'm one of the top players on my team (like top 5 or 6). Our varsity team is gonna have to pull up a few guys so my friends and I r all gonna try out for varsity. What are some things I should really focus on that varsity coaches want to see? Any tips for anything from u varsity players on this forum? ANYTHING would b GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

Well I'm a sophmore now and last year I played F/S. Inwardly I cared, I didn't show it too much though. This year I go to all the work-outs the team has. I haul @$$ at them, I lead, I explain and I work with my team. One day my coach (who happens to be my math teacher) Pulled me aside after class and talked to me about how pleased he was with my performance, dedication and skill level and extended an invitation to play with the varsity groups for our fall/winter leagues and possibly even during the season.
So the advice here is:
A) Go all out, if you mess up, don't show frustration, acknowledge your mistake, analyze, fix it.
B) Be a team player! No one likes a ball hog.
c) Show up for EVERYTHING, the coach will definitly notice you if he sees your happy face 7 times a week.
D) In situations that require guidance, step forth, take control and help others out.
Thats all I really have to say, best of luck to ya.

...and always do what the caoches say. ask if you have a question, you may get yelled at, but its better to be yelled at asking then yelled at doing wrong. never talk when tehy are talking, BE COACHABLE!! i almost wasnt picked for starting posistion cuz the coaches said that ti wasnt very coachable, but i tried to change that. try your hardest. 110% all the time. even in line drills. coaches really notice things like that. and try to get along with everyone on your team. you can hate eachother when ur in school, but on the team ur brothers. RESPECT. and no swearing. our coaches punish not only the swearer but the entire team. live for the now, not tommarrow. ok so that may have been a little confusing but i hope u got teh main points.
