ask your manager
just string them so they have a bag and little whip so people can adjust the shooters

in my opinon if you want people to love the store you should have people describe what they want with the tag they fill out when the give you thier head to string saying like up whip or down whip or good hold fast shot so you can get it as acurate as possible

If your asking this question, then your not going to be a good stringer. Just ask what they want and fufill it.

I sorta do this as well, I would give them a medium sized pocket so they can fix it either way and give them an attached note on how to add or reduce whip, define whip as well.

Yea what store, because the only lacrosse store in Austin that I know of is South Swell and I didnt think that they strung sticks, except for customs.

Here's what you should do. First, ask what kind of mesh they want (colors, size, etc). Ask how many shooters they would want, and where they want them placed. Then, ask where they want there pocket, and how much whip they want. Then, play a bit of catch with them to get a feel for their throwing motion. Next, once you have that information, use your stringing knowledge to figure whether their shooter setup and pocket placement will allow for their whip preference. If not, offer your advice to how you could change it to suit their needs, yet still fulfill as much of the criteria they specified as possible.

There you go.

Just don't make it some cookie cutter pocket. Not everyone wants the same pocket. The store near me strings the exact same thing on everybody's stick, and it just makes me sick because its a terrible pocket.

Get a pic of their head online, print it out , ask em to draw the shooters, and then ask:
-colors - sidewall/topstring/shooters/mesh
-mesh - hard/soft/semihard
-placement of pocket -high/ low/mid/superlow

thats all . also, ask if they like weaved or rolled. People who like whip generally like tight tight shooters so rolled :D

ok i used to help out @ the southswell in san diego over my winter breaks and spring breaks and i strung sticks wen needed and there pretty chill about it. im assuming theres someone who usually strings sticks there. so just look @ 1 of there stringings and try to do the same thing. and when u think ur done run it by the manager for final approval.

hahahahahahahha im sorry thats hellarious. im about to start stringing for a store near me too and to do alll that stuff for every customer is ridiculous. for stringing for a variety of people, one should ask if they want whip or no whip. anymore than that would be a pain for each customer. making a good size pocket and making it throw the way they like are the most important tasks.

I strung for a local store and in my opinion you should string the same pocket unless the customer says differently. If they're coming to the store, it's probably because they've either gotten one strung there before or like someone else's that was strung there. Since you're stringing for a store you need to be consistent with how you string so that the customer knows what they're getting. If they want something different it's their responsibility to ask for it. I agree not everyone wants the same pocket, but who's to say who wants which pocket unless they specify? If you string different pockets on a whim you'll get a bad rep for being inconsistent. One kid says he got a great no whip stick at the store, another kids says he got a super high whiptastic pocket. What are people gonna think about coming in and getting their stick strung there?

As for what kind of pocket, I tried to string them mid, about 3/4, maybe a so it wouldn't become illegal when it broke in. We actually had a form with a little generic lacrosse head picture so that they could draw in the shooters, but if they didn't specify it was 2 straight, 1 U. Just a basic solid stringing, not leaning toward heavy whip or no whip, just a little bit. Basically middle of the street on everything.

Why not play catch with them? Make the customer as happy as possible, and they'll come back, and help your store generate more revenue.

cus first of all, some of these people will be little kids and they really dont give a flyin fit on exactly how the ball throws with whip vs. no whip and the only reason the brought it in was to fix a bottom string that they dont know how to do, or even a sidewall. 2nd, if your store is in dire need of that much revenue, and the magical revenue-making stringer could bring in the money, then he'd be too busy stringin all the sticks to have people come over to his house to play pass with every one of them. if you worked at the store, and were there to play pass with the person, then yea sure and why the heck not, but if you worked for the store at home, then you woudlnt want to.

its kinda like this... :puke:

I got my blade strung a couple of years ago at break awyay(our lacrosse store) and the guy asked me everything. Size, color, placement, shooters, whip, and he played pass with me. I was only ten but it made me pretty happy then. I went back once, but now i can string so...

I'm talking about if a person wants a full re-string, not a fixed bottom string or something like that. IF you're there when they come in, play a little catch with them. 3 minutes of your time, thats all it takes, and you've got a guaranteed returning customer.

Why would the store hire someone who doesn't know wether to double up or not in a mesh pocket?

ya the comlax in our town has the most disgusting pockets.

1. there all strung how warrior does them
2. the sidewalls are mad loose so you get a big looking pocket that is ilegal in a week
3. you get 2 laces 2 diamonds from the top which gives you a ton of either whip or lip.
4. it takes 2 weeks
5. you come into the store with a note on the head saying "come and take"

man i cant wait to work there.

a good suggestion is to try to get a stick stringing clinic- everybody pays 25 bucks and they get a mini stick and stuff like that and its say a 1-10 ratio.

another, is dying heads or even making mesh braclets to sell. kids love stuff like that
