On a longboarding forum I am on, they have a program called flashchat. I'm not sure if TLF has ever had it, but in my opinion it makes for a lot of fun.

I've met some awesome people to longboard with in those chats, and also had many, many things explained to me. Once you join the chat, theres a list of rooms you can go into, a few open rooms, then some specific topic rooms.

I was thinking that maybe, we could try this out on TLF. Swear filters can be programmed into it, and as on the webiste people can be kicked.

Just an idea, and I did search (chat, flashchat, chat room)

I'm on that longboarding forum, too. It's so much fun to just chill and talk about...whatever. Swear filters are a must. There will need to be a heavy spam control, too.

I think TLF used to have an IRC type of thing...I could be wrong though.

is it possible to open our own meebo room, but this new idea sounds better than mine anyway

We need a mod to chime in!

But really, I absolutely love flashchat. Me and chucktownlax have been in a room for a few hours, just chillin and talking to people. Its a great time.

Sounds cool, I just think there are plenty of people on here that I wouldn't really want to talk to. AIM works fine. But I'm not against it, a trail of it would be tight.

Yes we did have a IRC (I think thats what it was called) chat room. We even had something before it (I don't remember what it was called though). Either way both were kinda hard to get in, you had to find the link, go to the website then find the specific TLF chat room. Thats the only reason I didn't use it often, and probably a reason others didn't use it. Also it was through general chat room website, it wasn't TLF's. It also was kinda unruly (at least the first one that I mentioned was).
If we could have our on TLF chat room that was easy to get to I (and most others most likely) would really enjoy that.
It probably won't happen because well it will be hard to keep it running smoothly and everything does cost money and time, which I don't think the Admin (and mods) would want to pay or put more of their time into.

There have been several attempts by the TLF staff to create a working chat room that people use consistently, but so far all we've seen is that people love the thing for one day, then the use of it dwindles quickly as time goes on. Basically, no one from IL will be spending the cash to create a chat room for this place, because no one will use it (and that includes all those people who follow this post who say, "But I will").

If you want to create a chat room, feel free.

Well, we could still use the IRC chat room, it's still on my computer, it was fun some nights last summer...I'll bump the thread with the tutorial and everything in it if anyone wants.
