I am getting a new phone/plan in 2 weeks.
Im thinking of getting a sidekick with t mobile
or maybe an iPhone with at&t
but im leaning towards an enV with verizon

Price isnt an issue, but i definately dont want a palm pilot kind of phone, or anything too big.

i really believe it all has to do with your location. In my area AT&T gets awesome service, i've got five bars now.

Well im pretty sure that AT&T has the bigger network, so a lot more people use it, but i think that verizon has the better network and you can get great service in most places.

I have a Razr on Verizon and it works great, I think I've only dropped 1 or 2 calls
all year.

well depends where you are, I had Verizon and had crappy connection. i switched to AT&T 3 years ago and have had nothing but great connection.
I got the 8GB iphone, and it's awesome. Really depends where you are. But phone wise, i would have to say AT&T, they have iphone, Blackjack (i don't think verizon has it) and some other great phones that verizon doesn't.

Personally, i don't see what the big hype is about the EnV. Looks the same like any other phone out there, whats so special about it? please don't say looks, in MY OPINION, its one of the ugliest phones out there. but some people say that about the iphone, but i don't know, i think the iphone looks sweet, but those are all my own personal tastes.

good luck

verizon has the best service if thats what you are looking for. But cingular (At&t) has the best phones but alright service.

No T-mobile love?

I have T-mobile and a sidekick, and it works great IMO.

Verizon does their service a completely different way from everyone else. Most companies do their service from satellites, which you think would be better, but Verizon has towers that give service to cell phones and you really do get service in more places. The thing is, my friends that have Cingular/AT&T could have 5 bars somewhere where I have 3, but I always have service, and they don't always have service. I live by Lake Erie and I know some kids that get really crappy reception by there but I always have service. Actually, I have never not had service with Verizon..no roaming or anything.

I come from the west side of Cleveland, because I'm sure it does vary.

Just ask your friends what kind of reception they get with different carriers in your area. Where I live, I get terrible reception with my Cingular phone in many places. And I get plenty of dropped calls. It just never gets as awkward as in the commercials.

ampd mobile is on all of vzws towers

virgin mobile is on sprint sprints towers

so they get the same service

ampd is going out of business and has filed bancruptcy and it is about to be shutdown. very very soon.

Verizon may have the worst phones but it does have the best service.

Their phones aren't THAT bad, they just get the new cool ones a couple months after the are first released. The new Blackberry will probably be on Verizon by the holidays.

Verizon hasn't ever let me down. They have good phones and good service. I rarely don't have service, only when I am in school.

amp'd is turning off service on the 24th actually, at least according to all the cell phone/network sites.

Anyways, back to the original question...

It depends on where you are and what you're going to be doing. Do you travel a lot? If so, verizon is pretty solid throughout the country. If you will be sticking to major cities, t-mobile is the cheapest and works great in just about every major city. Also, at&t and t-mobile use gsm phones, so that means you have a HUGE selection of phones seeing as how most of the world uses gsm tech, so places like www.myworldphone.com might be of interest for you if you go that route. Do you travel overseas? What kind of plan do you want? What kind of features do you want with your phone? High speed data is basically only available on verizon (their high speed is nice from my experience), at&t and sprint (haven't used it before). Sprint in my experience is not very good and they charge and arm and a leg for service...but a few of my friends swear by it so who knows.

Figure out what you want to do with your service and where you want to do it and a better answer can be provided.

Does anyone have the LG VX9400 cell phone for verizon? I'm thinking about getting it but I can't decide between that and the Samsung u740. Any pros or cons on these phones would we appreciated

kujay- Go for the u740 if u like to text, super easy texting and quite durable. Unless u fall in a pool like a friend of mine.

verizon has the best service, and also has the best overall customer service. but the iphone is pretty tempting, and at&t isnt awful. id say choose between one of those two.

it does have alot to do with location, but i can tell you sprint is horrible everywhere. Ill be out of service when my friends phones of varying providers will have 3-5 bars, which sucks. I miss alot of phone calls.

If you are looking for "the best service" as in the best signal, the answer is hands down US Celluar. That said, I am not a big fan of their phones, so I use AT&T, and have no problems at all.

Agreed. if you're in a place thats got lots of mountains or anything like that, it wont matter what kind of service you have.

On the flip side, I have AT&T and it rocks

Seeing as FamousAmos started this thread 6 months ago and said he was going to buy a phone within the following 2 weeks, I have a question for him...What phone and provider did you end up getting?

EricL

Yeah I'm currently on a t-mobile plan and its about to expire and thinking of getting a new plan. Anyone know a plan that gives you a free phone? My razr is getting ancient.

verizon. it is pretty good where i live (right by lake erie and i mean RIGHT by i like like 2 miles from the water) and sometimes it sucks but its mostly good with my enV.

Verizon, best phones, best prices, best service. Yet i am biased because of my dad but still, they are the best.

i like verizon the best. the only downside is that having a sim card makes switching phones really easy, but it is not a big deal.

Verizon definetly sucks, Helio is where it's at. Trust me I know. Just go to Helio's website and look up their plans and phones. They are definetly unbeatable. PLEASE O PLEASE don't get the enV either. Just please no. Crippled and terrible.

I live in an area where its a split between at&t and verizon. i have t-mobile and i have no problems..everyone else that has it hates t-mobile. The terrible thing about tmobile is that it has no good phones. at&t has the best phones(iphone...game over) If i could i would switch to at&t

haha. does anyone here use Cricket?

I don't use cricket, but I have a couple of friend that do. It seems to be a good plan for them but as far as I know it wouldn't have any good family plans. Could be mistaken though. Also it doesn't have the best coverage. I think it rents towers or something like that so their isn't always service.
