My uncle sent me this email. I thought it was hilarious. This really happened to him, he doesn't make this stuff up. Anyway, here ya go

Dangit,

I just got back from Tractor Supply with my third 50lb bag-o-birdseed this summer. I just knew it was them squirrels gettin into it. I figured I must be feeding every squirrel in all of Coon Holler if they went thru 100lbs already.

So I rigged up a pulley line and thought they'd have to be some titerope-walking squirrels to get to the feeder now.

Got up at sun-up this mornin' to watch some of them tree rats fall off the high wire. I hollered "well I'll be, there's a big black squirrel as big and ugly as Rosie O-Donald tryin to steal birdseed from my feeder".

I aint kiddin neither !

Look at the pictures I took.

There's 4 pictures and I named her Rosie.

Anyway, you heard the problem. Any ideas on how to fix it? Also tell any other related stories if you have any.

I live in the middle of nowhere pretty much and my grandfather had a bird feeder made to be a replica of the house right? Well we have pics of what a black bear like Rosie did to the feeder. the bear tore it to shreds, there was nothing left, the shreds were like mulch!! maybe it was because the bird feeder was empty...

Haha. All great suggestions, but now that i think of it i like Live4it's idea better. Tight-rope-walking bear. I could have a circus if you add the rest of my family. haha.

Random advice- Don't bowhunt squirrels with regular field points... Took me 3 shots the other day. Not enough shock, so they run too. Mine decided to run up a tree and die, getting stuck in the branches by the arrows. It was a fun climb up.

And yeah. That wire will snap one of these days... No possible way it can hold that much weight for long.

1000 is the standard, But anything upwards of 650 is fine for squirrel. You might be able to get away with 500 if you're a good shot. Most air rifles come in 1000 FPS, which is the best deal. The little multi pump pellet guns are around 500-600. Either one will generally work.

It also depends on the kind of squirrel you have... Where do you live? Squirrel sizes vary by place, Like my squirrels are pretty small, But my 650 and 1000 FPS air rifle and pellet gun both work fine.

my great uncle has a huge cabin in the adk that is more huge house like than cabin like but he puts peanut butter on trees and stuff to watch the bears and last summer i was up there and a black bear cub was hanging on his birdfeeder as well and the whole bird feeder fell to the ground and the cub freaked out and started running in circles it was hilarious
