hey guys i just got home from a 3 day trip to maine and i had some one taking care of my pirahnna. i got home today and he looked sick and had a white spot on hiis eye (almost covers the whole eye) he has been alive for 1 year about there i think and (i know a slim to none chance) but i was hoping maybe there was another pirahnna keeper on here or a fish keeper for that matter. dose any one know whats wrong with him? im going to go looking on google and hope for a answer. i would hate to lose this guy he is awsome.

if its a legal animal, take it to the vet if they can deal with fish

give him a salt bath, the same things happen to the fish in our koi pond. you just get a small pot or pan with the tanks water in it, then pour enough salt in so it all disolves and the water gets cloudy, then just let him chill in there for like 5 minutes, then take him out and put him back in the tank

how do i get a 20 gallon tank to the vet? and yes it is legal. i love nibbles (he is the pirahnna i have in my room thats sick.) then there is scat, jaws II, and jibs, downstairs there all red bellys and then i have rampage downstairs also but he is a blackbelly (:devil:evil laugh:devil: ) they are the most agressive of all pirahnnas and can get 18" long and wiegh 3 lbs and they will bite humans. but itd all legal in NH you know what we say "live free and die" or is it "live free or die" lol

http://www.worldcichlids.com/fishprofiles/piranha.html

go on there, sign up for the forums and there should be something on there to help you but i don't know as I don't have an account, my mom used to. I used to work in a fish department so I may be able to help, but if it's anything specific to piranha then I can't b/c i don't know them too well.

he probably has a cateract( i don't know how you spell it)
no sure what the life span for those fish are, but a lot of animals get them when they get old(i know people and dogs get them)
if that's what it is, it's a film that forms over the eyes and makes them blind or partially blind

thanks tiplax jw is it deadly or perminante?

tiplax

it's not deadly from what i know, but it's perminate unless you get surgery
not sure how much a pirahana costs but it would most likely be a lot cheaper to just get a new fish than get the surgery

I say it is a fungus. Take it to a fish store and ask someone with some knowledge in the department.

This one seems to be the case.

If it is that, then just read the article

Nice man, you have a pirahna. I ran into a couple of those things when I went snorkeling. They look freaky.
I agree with Tiplax though, same thing happened to my dog when he got really old, he died a week later though... I don't think it was because of the thing though.

I forget the name of it, but I think he has a very common disease that will eventually kill him. I was talking up a salt water owner at the store the other day and he says the one disease....wait, nevermind, I just thought of it 'Hole in the head' that will kill him, but I'm pretty sure what he has is another common disease and may or may not go away but probably won't kill him. I'd put him in a bag and take him to your local tropical store if I were you. If he dies, get an oscar. Or some Jack Dempsey Cichlids.

Nibbles is such a good name for a piranha.

well guys nibbles got some medicin today but unfortenetly i think it was to late what ever happened to him is definatly killing him he is swiming on his sid like totaly on his side every once in a while he will flick his tail as trying to tell me hes still kickin but not for long.... hate to say it but i think by tomorow he will be dead. i hate the feeling i cant do any thing i also gave him a salt bath and still no help. well if he dies im definatly going to get another black belly and make sure to take care of his water alot better. if nibbles can pull through this i will be amazed and bielieve in some higher power that none of us can see or understand.

It's actually not that out there. People also keep Peacock Bass, Freshwater and Saltwater Sting Rays, and sharks.

I think he means scorpion fish. Theyre pretty darn cool.

07-26-2007, 04:44 PM
nope im talking about sea goblins they. goblin sharks are (obivosly) ilegal) and i dont know what scorpion fish are. but if it did not cost so much to make a salt water tank i would do it and get a sea goblin heres a small pic of one ill look for a better one

Here: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=248

the reason there so cool is because they are (from what i know) the most poisions and deadly fish that is legal to own.
