Port Charlotte lost to Fort Myers 11-6, was a hard faught game.

As for killerboots question, after our first game we looked good, couldve been better but we have alot of room for improvments since 85% of our players are rookies.

i scored our two goals.. it was 4-1 at half time but then they it was like 9 to 2 at the end of the third quater and our coach put in all of our nonstarters and thats when they piled on those goals

Granted the names everyone seems to be throwing around are great teams, there is a team being made no mention of that is still going to be a competitor on both coasts this year...they lost a lot of talent and went down on Saturday to Douglas 16-10 because of a slow 1st quarter, but they held their own for the remaining 3...they may not be a great team in many eyes but they made the final 4 last year and i'm predicting that they'll make it again this year, and maybe to the state championship game

I graduated; but that is the only game our coach really cares about he says it is the measuring stick of our program, but the again he is a Palmetto alum.

HHMM. BC has a pretty weak local schedule.....so the games that they will need to win...to get any respect, are Douglas ( lost...and no matter what you say..you have to play 4 periods to beat a quality team) Plant and possible Clearwater. Which goalies played..and how many goals did the give up/each?

IMHO, the star LAX team at BC currently is the girls program. Lots of seniors...hugely popular at the school....and may become the second elite girls sport at BC after girls basketball.

LAX in SW Fla seems to have lost a little of its rapid growth, but this is probably not unusual for a new sport...fast start...then tails off as it becomes more established.

I think BC would be a better program as would all of the other local teams if the "overall" area level of play was better. There seem to be two tiers of play....good...and new, with a lot more in the new category.

In closing..Canterbury lost to Cape Coral???? Wow....the private schools on this coast may not be able to keep up with the public school LAX growth.

I never said the score of the game was close, I said the 2nd half was closely played. It showed us two things. One is that we need to come out stronger in our games and the other is that we have a team that can be competitive.

Our goalie played the whole game, and I guess since we're freshman then he is the new goalie. I do not have the shots on goal.

I don't know why you make the comment about BC being a popularity contest for playing. If you are good you will play, thats all there is to it. I'm a freshman and I play so I don't know how I got to be so popular if it's my first year here. About the conditioning, it is run by team captains, so it probably won't have any immediate effect on were you stand on the team, but when we start running and practice and you can outlast the guy covering you, you will shine and you will get on the field.

I wasn't here last year so I can't say much about this except that you have your chance to show you deserve to play at practice and if you do then you will play. It's a shame that they left the program because this year there is player developement with the addition of a full time JV team. It gives kids who might not have played so much if we were all on the same team a chance to improve and come up to varsity next year.

Also last i heard rain effects both teams the same. Plant couldn't beat a Dwyer team that was missing their star MLG player #23

Calling an off day would be an understatement. Plant looked like a bunch of thugs with their cheap shots and some of the most disrespectful actions ive seen in lacrosse.

Not that this would necessarily throw a W in MP's favor, but the team reports that their entire starting attack plus a handful of mids were absent from the game (talk about bad luck). A match with MP at full strength may have been a little less lopsided in BC's favor. Just saying.

on another note, good BC. Im rooting for yas to go to states again...untill i play yas. Then im rooting against yas, then if we make it to playoffs and play yas im rooting againts yas again but other then that keep up the good work.

benjamin is losing a ton of players alot of seniors and there losing there x attackman. gardens should probably be the favorite for that division there the most complete team i think they have an amazing goalie a pretty solid defense 2 good attackmen and pretty solid middies. thats just my opinion it could come out completly different i no my team will become a threat if our goalie keeps improving and our middies man up. im not sure bout dwyer there on a pretty steady decline


i think that dwyer is gonna surprise everyone this year. u may think the team lost there coachin staff but we didnt i feel that the coachin is the best its been. and on another note there wont be any more home games for dwyer (last one 2/29/08 for possibly the season) due to the track being fixed.

Let me guess. You grew up....started playing LAX...like it was nothing....everyone can can't they? Suddenly, you hit high school..and varsity LAX is available. So, in your tiny young mind, you think that everyone else has the same varsity opportunity.

Did you ever for a moment even consider those ahead of you that grew similar programs to varsity status? Soccer, track, softball, swimming, diving, water polo.......others? Do you think that varsity status suddenly happened like some cosmic moment?

Get out of your own little tiny world and stop degrading other players that today have to work and pay (unlike you) for the right to play LAX. Clubs get little or no help from the school districts. Many club teams require a payment or have to raise between 300-500 per player to finance the effort.

Better to leave your mouth shut and have us wonder if you are stupid, than to open it and confirm it for everyone here.

oh i didnt see that. But yes well put Lacrossebum03. My school hates the idea of having a team as well as it even being a club. Most Clubs can compete with the varsity teams but there school choose not to make them a sanctioned team. And please correct me if im wrong but wasnt St Thomas Aquinas Raiders a club team and now there a Varsity team and going by laxpower there ranked 2nd in the south and 4th in the state.

ya, i go to st. thomas aquinas and we were club last year. we had a half decent season for our first ever year. ended up losing in 2nd round of playoffs to eventual state champs douglas. this year we are sanctioned and doing quite well so far. we are 6-0 including a 16 to 9 win against pine crest.

Thanks, I agree that the teams in the area can't really compete with BC and that ultimately hurts the team a little bit, as strong as they are. I've heard good things about Douglas's team too, BC JV played the Douglas JV and won, but that speaks nothing of either Varsity program. BC plays Douglas this Saturday however, so we will see what comes of that.

All i have to say is that i grew up on LI and i play on the "west coast', and listen, noone down here plays real lacrosse, not even barron. SWF lax is a bunch of good athletes who like lacrosse and take the skills they have from other sports like football and basketball and use them to beat the crap out of really terrible kids who cant play any other sport so they decide to play lacrosse because noone over here considers it a real sport. Any team on long island or anywhere in the northeast that goes 0 and four hundred million would come down here and smoke everyone. not taking anything away from you guys down here, im just saying dont talk like the "east coast" is actually good, they just suck less than the west coast, thats the bottom line. Besides St. Andrews and maybe that other team they compete with, there are no teams in florida who can hang with anyone. So east coast, chill out, cuz in the real spectrum of the lacrosse world, you guys are terrible, your just better than the west coast. Are the district playoff schedules published any where? Laxpower seems to show District 4 round 1 being played at Benjamin, 4/15. If so nice to give the 3 seed a home game. How about Districts, 1,2,and3? Also because of PBC spring break all teams will have a two week lay-off. Good for injuries, bad for sharp play.

alright honestly, you cant judge fla lax on one game with some beat *** team in virginia who wnated a spring break vacation. Now that said, do i think fla is gonna be one of the powers in the future because of the athleticism down here and th fatc that you can play 24/7 365, yeah i do. But for right now, fla lax is horrific, compared to the rest of the country. Honestly ive been on both sides of things and you really dont understand. LI lax or maryland lax is a completely different game, its played a faster speed with better sticks, and with goalies who arent just the fat kids who signed up. so all i was really saying or the point i rewally wanted to make was that you can not call a kid down here amazing, because there is no way he is playing the same game that is being played in the part of the country where it counts, no offense. I know a kid last year who played for cantebury, or maybe a couple of years ago, w/e, ran **** down here, went to go play d3, and didnt even make the team, why, cuz it was a complete shocker to him how fast things were done and how good everyone around him was. so just dont throw the words amazing and incredible around too lightly without thinking about it first, ya kno?

true a lot of fl club isn't spectactular...but honestly i think if you take the top 3 teams (gardens douglas and dwyer) they are actually decent teams...not sayin they could go and beat teams from long island or maryland but those teams i mentioned are not bad at all and yes give florida about 10 or 15 years to get more of the athletes into lacrosse and florida will hopefully be somewhat close to the northern teams

Lacrosse is just being born in FL compared to all the years its been up North. Being recruited is about 1. being good 2. exposure. Right now, FL isnt really a big recruiting hotbed (minus a few St. Andrews kids) Half the good kids from FLClub go D-II, but thats about it. As the game grows down here, the skill will follow. It may be a (very) long time, but FL will catch up with the Northeast.

Defense played well 1st quarter then we got pretty tired cause we couldn't keep the ball on offense. Anything that could've went wrong, did go wrong. (minus Danny making ridiculous saves as usual)

If a player got in a cheap shot....that just exists....be glad that Weston has been dismantled. I saw a game (annual UBS Tournament) where they swung ( tomahawk style) late in a game against a Collier County team..against a defender that had had a great game.....and broke several fingers in a flagrant foul....that was generally encouraged by the coach. He had to have 3 surgeries to put his hand back together....all this with 5 seconds left in the game.

I am not demeaning the P.C. players, I just think the P.C. coach is a great coach. If he had Gulf Coast type player numbers....he would be the top program around. Just my .02. Good luck against P.C.

Yeah definitely a good hard fought game, 35 had a good game for PC, but number 17 for riverdale, 9th grade defenseman, was out of his mind, shut down number 4 for PC, crazy...good game though, @ Ft Myers on tuesday at 7

I agree that BC's defense has been tested yet only once, but for FM to score they have to get the ball. Barron rides very well and has a high FO win percentage.

that was also there second game of the season, they then came togather in the second and only lost 16-10, plus they beat plant 8-7 in OT thats saying alot for a SW team and quite honestly i have played against both teams and have seen both teams play, ft myers is good but there not that good yet, but it will be a good game and im hoping to go see it.

In what game did the defense do well? BC's best defense, is a great offense. The defense goes to sleep do to lack of work in the games I have seen. The ball lives down on the O end.

You don't count that game.......why? Because you weren't focused......does Dan Marino count the Super Bowl game when Joe Montana lit up the Dolphins defense.....wait, they were not focused. Lets have a do over!!

They all count. I am not saying the BC defense is poor, just not tested on a regular basis. In fact, they have been tested once, and they got beat.....but I will grant you..the Plant game was much closer.

Plant has 3 losses, to two teams ranked above BC. You beat them.....but in OT, which is a great win, but not convincing. Congrats. I harken back to last year at Disney......they dismantled you. Took you apart. Did you see the game......it got ugly.....fast.

Do not look past Ft Myers...I have seen them surprise you several times.
