In what game did the defense do well? BC's best defense, is a great offense. The defense goes to sleep do to lack of work in the games I have seen. The ball lives down on the O end.

You don't count that game.......why? Because you weren't focused......does Dan Marino count the Super Bowl game when Joe Montana lit up the Dolphins defense.....wait, they were not focused. Lets have a do over!!

They all count. I am not saying the BC defense is poor, just not tested on a regular basis. In fact, they have been tested once, and they got beat.....but I will grant you..the Plant game was much closer.

Plant has 3 losses, to two teams ranked above BC. You beat them.....but in OT, which is a great win, but not convincing. Congrats. I harken back to last year at Disney......they dismantled you. Took you apart. Did you see the game......it got ugly.....fast.

Do not look past Ft Myers...I have seen them surprise you several times.
Sounds like you are on D. If you get by Ft Myers......better wear the full gear.

I was at the Plant vs. Jesuit game...And let me just say both teams looked far from good solid lacrosse teams. So many bad passes, lost balls, poor ground ball work, and slouching efforts by both teams.

As for Barron vs. Fort Myers. I was lucky enough to watch both teams play this season.

Ft.Myers vs. Wesley Chapel...Ft.Myers looked like a second year team and WC looked like a first year team. Both weren't too good and have miles to come before they're solid teams. To many errors to list and the game came down to a very close over time.

Barron vs. Gulf Coast...BC dominated the game and gave me a very bad example to base my judgment off. They looked just as good as they did the last two years. Except for their defense, the defense the previous years IMO was better but I still wasn't at every game. BC capitalized on face offs, ground balls and worked the offense very well. Another area BC needs to improve on is their keeper...He seemed unexperienced and over confident in the cage. BC's best goalie was the fellow they had three years ago.

I for see on an unbiased opinion a Barron Collier win over Ft.Myers.

On the whole it seems that FL club lax has gone down the tubes from where it was a few years ago. In the SWFL region all except for Barron have lost all their talent and are in the beginning of their rebuilding years. One team for example would be Canterbury who is 0-11 this year and was previously a stronger team. Wesley Chapel also looks a lot worse then they were two years ago and might be stuck in the same position as many other teams.

As for FL girls lacrosse there isn't much I can say. There really isn't any good girls lacrosse being played and it seems that Barron Collier might just suck a little less then the other teams...No offense, but just because Barron's team is winning doesn't mean they're good. I completely agree. The kid they had 3 years ago was an absolute stud...field general....he was big in size and bigger in blocking ability.

Re the girls... maybe ...they did beat Douglas.....and that was a huge hurdle for them.....but who knows how good anyone is at this moment. They did play a NY team ( I think it was NY) in Orlando, and they lost...but not by an huge amount. True though...they need to play out of Fla. teams to see how good they are. But, to say that the area's dominant team simply sucks less...does not seem to be fair.


The fact is that for this sport to go varsity, more girls teams must get up and going and be viable. To the boys players...you should support the girls teams in every eway....because without them, you will be club for a long time, due to title 9 requirements.

We do have miles to go, we also have years too... were a sophomore based team, with a few good senior leaders. Now that most of will be playing elite with Fire or Tribe in the summer/fall, we will get much better. By the time we're seniors, we will be one of the best teams in the state.

Barron Collier beat Fort Myers 15-6. 26 from fort myers was ejected for starting a fight, then another one of fort myers players was eject for i think one to many roughing calls. One of barrons coaches was ejected for running on the feild when the fight broke out.


SMA beat All Saints 15-2 in championship. I know its B division but it may be the only championship ill win in lacrosse :). Anyone going to the allstar game at Lakewood ranch or wesley chapel?

Congrats on the win. Also i was nominated for the one of the goalie positions for the SWFL all star team so hopefully ill be seeing ya's up in lakewood next saturday.

I'm the barron goalie. They only stated to score because we were playing 6 on 3 because we were 3 men down we played 2 men down and then the rest of the game we were almost atleast short a man,it was a nasty game but they never scored even I believe except maybe once. They did have good shooters though, better then any other team weve played this year.

I saw the game. FM has nothing like the shooters of years past. I mean NOTHING. In years past, they had multiple weapons...with fast accurate shots. Middies that were all over the place...

Last night, they had to pull their best shot..the goalie to start an offense. Prior to that, I have no idea what they were doing. They could not even pass and catch...and at least 10 times, could not clear the ball, and passed right to a BC middie.

Most concerning were the FM fans, cheering the player that tossed..the first one. He raised his hands in triumph behind the bench.....and was cheered...for starting a FIGHT! It was disgusting. The other player got tossed for a foul mouth..and went more quietly.

The BC defenders rode the clears very well..and I think BC will not have a tough game vs. Plant. PBG wil be a completely different kettle of fish.

I will not be negative, but I think that BC will have their hands full if they meet PBG.

As for the keeper, he defended very well up high.....

The FM defense was completely lost. They could not guard, could not switch....seemd to have never played anyone that could pass, cradle..etc. I felt bad for them..and then they just became frustrated....and got a little out of control The first kid that was tossed...had 3 roughness/slashing/etc......penalties...in about 5 minutes. He was tossed on the third as a fight broke out..and he was just on top of the kid punching him.....for a darn long time, thus the coach ran out.


Thus far, BC has won very effectively on offense....we will see if that will carry them.


It will be great to have the semi's in champ game in SW Fla. Good luck to all the teams.

Personally i have played against Fort Myers for three years now and its true last years shooter were rlly well, this year it seemed as if they had some great shooter but that was only because the only real team they played this year was Wesley Chapel. If they play a real defence they cant do anything, BC did exactly what they do to bad defence(getting as close to the crease as possible and then passing it to the crease man.

As for Dylan(number 2) He moved to new york to play, and im not sure what happend but he transfered back down here. He was put in to replace number 13(the goalie that started the game) because i guess it would give them a much better momentum. He made a few good saves but once they went 2 man up in the third he was taken out and placed back on attack, the goal he had was a great shot but the game was set in stone in the first half.

As for the fans attitude they have always been like that, there like that for every sport and your right it's truly disgusting that people will sink so low when faced with defeat. My team went 6-8 this year and 3-13 last year we never once started a fight or had anyone ejected. It's frustrating but you shouldnt be a sore loser take the lose like a man and build on you mistakes.

Well from my perspective i think we are going to be good, we have alot of talented seniors. Ill be playing my position is goalie. Dan's most likely going if he doesnt have to get surgery. He's pretty good and he is a multi player meaning he plays both middie and attk.

Girls? Going by the score, and the players getting thrown out, it's obvious who the "girls" are. Can FM go through a game without getting massive penalties, a coach talking smack his team can't back up, or a player getting thrown out? They couldn't when I was playing.

Screwed up? Look at the score buddy. When I played you guys, your coach made your run sprints after you lost (badly) because you talked too much smack. Again...who are the girls?

..and about the cheering for the players got thrown out. I wish I could have been at the game to shut that down. FM is a bunch of red neck trash, low-class lacrosse posers. They played dirty, lose sorely, and lost often. Did I mention they have a ref who coaches for them and turns the tables on games with his authority?

You know...You might think Ft.Myers is good...But through the eyes of someone who has seen your team play this year the opinion is far different. I've seen the best of the best play in high school and played with them. All I am going to say is Barron Collier is a much better team than Ft.Myers and no matter what some trash mouth punk says, thinks or thought is going to change that. The image that Barron and the several other high schools in the area put out is exactly the image we want to support a positive future for SWFL lacrosse. All this negative attitude from Ft.Myers is doing is hurting the image, the growth and the future of SWFL lacrosse in both the short and long run. A lot of good players, coaches and men have put countless hours into getting SWFL lacrosse where it is and I can tell you myself not one of them appreciates what you or any other negative player is doing.

Now, if Barron isn't as good as you thought (or maybe your pride/ego is big to accept the loss at the hands of a good team) then please come out next season and prove everyone wrong. But please stop promoting a bad image for the sport and start supporting it with a positive image that will help it become varsity, help it expand, and allow it to become better and prove that SWFL lax is for real and will continue to be a dominant region in FL lacrosse.

And let me just finish by saying I try to give an unbiased opinion on lacrosse in the area and am only hear to maybe play the devils advocate on some topics and say the truth that someone might not want to hear. But I'm not here to purposely put anyone down or start arguments.

In my honest unbiased opinion all teams played down tonight; especially Douglas and Barron Collier. I wished Barron would have got the ball rolling because Plant had nothing special up there sleeves. Barron was flat, their defense played horrible and sorry to say but their goalie was their biggest weakness. As for Douglas, they played down and should have won their game against PBG. The biggest problem I noticed right away in the first quarter was their inability to shoot on cage tonight.

As for the game tomorrow....PBG vs. Plant...Well expect PBG to walk all over them.

BC's defense didn't get a chance to stretch their legs all season, of course they got walked all over. When you get cocky and don't have someone test your abilities, you're going to get walked all over. A young, inexperienced goalie doesn't help either.

Sad to see them get knocked out. 2 losses to Plant at states in 2 years.

hey let me know what I did wrong. I didnt have much help from my defense with the shot selection. Plant was just a better team last night, the defense played 22 mins out of 24 mins in the first half last night.

Bagataway, GA tournament. We have a few new kids, mainly younger guys. We lost a few Ft. Myers, the SMA guys and St Pete kids. Its a scrappy roster. I don't think we could afford to fly to Cali, lets meet in the middle, haha.

I believe 20-0 gives anyone the right to a horn tooting -- so to speak. Might as well live it up, doesn't happen very often.

alright since there hasnt been much to talk about since season is over and i know its early but how about some predictions for fl club '09....heres my preseason top

1. dwyer (goalie is gettin better, very strong poles, very strong middies, attack will be pretty good)
2. plant (from what i hear they return a lot of players and looked very strong late this season)
3. douglas (name says it all)
4. barron collier (heard they were young and goalie will definitely improve they could be tough)
5. gardens (loosing alot but more talent is coming, best attack in the state but huge ?'s at middies and goalie)
6. benjamin (everything is good except huge issues on defense lost two best poles)
7. wellington (very young team this year could be a big surprise next year)
8. jupiter (same as wellington with maybe a little more talent but coaching could be an issue)

As far as U-17 goes, Fire looks pretty good. They have some good attackmen, a good lpm, few good poles and a pretty clutch goalie. I only saw bits and pieces of a few of their games in Boca, so I can't really judge them. Tribe isn't too bad, we started the summer a lot better than we did last year. Our offense is pretty good when we don't do stupid things, but our defense is still working.

Florida lacrosse in no way compares to the game up north. Not even most of our playing fields are legal by NCAA standards. You may be big and bad BUT, The point: Nobdoy cares. Especialy if you hate some summer league or if you were on the best team in Florida. The big thing is you play a sport that is little known in the south and you obviously love to play it. Stop complaining and threatening on this thread, go outside and throw the ball around.
But most importantly, be gratefull you have the opportunity to play the sport down here.

No one likes a joke more than me... even ones at the expense of others sometimes. However, as I have unfortunately found out the hard way on occassion - one person's joke is another person's "fighting words." This seemed to be escalating quickly into something that could do damage to a good thing - the summer league. And I agree - the field at PGA is a peice of crap... it is unfortunately the only field that is available to us. Lax is still "on the outside looking in" throughout PB County, and field space is hard to find.

As far as I am concerned - and as far as everyone from PBG Lacrosse is concerned - this issue is now officially over.

You are missing my point. I mean as a "sport". And the type of game we play.

With select teams and tournament teams you have the "top" players on your roster. Meaning you can spend less time on the rudements and more time on amazing play and "real" lacrosse. Different from the fledgling lacrosse programs that scatter the state.

As a sport down here, it would be great to have more teams. I would kill to battle the local high schools like my cousins do on Long Island.
Most of the teams I see are running teams. No elegant passes and quick plays, but constant drives to the goal. Numerous passes usualy end in a turnover in possession. And when passes are made, they are slow and deliberate. I have played with some pretty tight teams and it's the passing game that I LOVE and I wish it was more prevalent. I mean sure, there are teams that do this, (Barron Collier plays an amazing transition game from one end to the other) (Plant finds the feeds through tons of defensemen) but I havn't seen many.

So forget the tourney teams. It's a given we can compete. In all honesty anyone with the right mindset can compete. And especialy us because we can play year round. As a whole, I believe ths sport has alot of growing and maturing to do here.

I will have to agree on the TOTAL skill comparison. However, from when I started playing lacrosse down here about 7 years ago, the skill level has raised rapidly overall. Not all of us were born with lacrosse sticks in our hands like up north, but its catching on faster, competition is rising, thus the skill level is rising every year. Give it time, we'll get there.
