ok as many of you know, me and gigo have been trying to reach lyle tomilson for permission to post the love pocket tut. so i just checked my emails and i just recieved a new one from lyle tomilson. pretty informative and i thoght i'd share it with you all. this is the actual email.

I have heard such rumors and just spent the last 2 1/2 days READING ALL the threads on the forum, that was brought to me by one of the lax forums moderators. As I cant approve a tutorial on the pocket for the time being, for that too my understanding that if something is sold as a product for profit by a company is something that is not to be approved by the Forum. Plus WHY would I want to give out the secrets?

FYI, California Lacrosse Company stores have closed all its retail locations, but is still in the lacrosse business in a new and very different direction. Also, Mario is not the creator of the pocket, just a business man that marketed it quite well. I (Lyle) creator of Pocket 34 among other pockets, have NO AFFILIATION with Calaxco anymore. Though I/we (Shooterz Lax) do still string TONZ of heads for players & teams across the nation.

I am in the process of writing a pretty through publishing for everyone, for their is toooooooo much controversy about the "Love Pocket" "Love Channel" "Pocket 34" "Cali Connection". It'll clear up so much for everyone that is on the stick doctors lounge and too stop all the repeated non-sense that is being posted; i.e who is the creator, iz the knot right, differences between the pockets, etc....

Be on the look out within the next week for the thread....

Hopefully this helps answer all the questions about them, and clears the clutter. I never really got the point though, its still just mesh, I can get a more accurate pocket with more hold doing it the normal way but whateever......

I'm very dissapointed, and yet very glad for this.

In one way I think it may end all the love pocket madness.

However in another way I think it may cause more, if people are positive on how it is done then more people may post them and void the mesh sticky.

Not only do I think that we need a new mesh sticky, but I believe that we need a Custom Mesh Sticky, I.E. Double Sidewalls, Triangle Topstrings, Love Pockets, Cali Connections, P34s.

No, we don't. Stringing a mesh stick is stick mesh. And what would be your basis of a "custom" mesh job. Every stick is different.

People are still talking about it because we'd all like to know exactly what the hell we're stringing when we through all these funky knots and shooter setups into our string jobs.

Like, I think my stick has a P34 in it, but...I really don't know.

It's not so much the Love Pocket itself that created the madness, but more the knot and shooter style/setup/placement.

well an interesting fact i found out....the love pocket isnt original. i know were trying to get off the topic but i was just reading the label off an original brine edge aero that i hadnt taken apart yet and looked at the string job....the love knot concept evolved from this i think...theres a knot on old brine heads called the loc-knot that did the same thing as the love knot...channeled the pocket for better hold. it was with the power-v pocket stringing on the heads.

....so cal lax is stealing an idea from brine and making a profit which means brine/warrior can sue them....or if its not patented by brine anybody could make a tutorial for a love pocket? unless the goofy rolled U is patented by cal lax, and again if that thing isnt patented, murder, gigo, am17, anyone who can do a love can make a tutorial. murder, you should probably send another email about this to lyle

You can't patent something so generic, even if they have a patent,or a trademark, or a copyright, or whatever, it would never hold up in court. Because if i can make one myself in 15 minutes i don't see how this is patentable especially since it was around before Cal Lax. and yes, sw19 i have seen teh patent...about a yr and a half ago. it was posted in the giant rock-it pocket thread i think or some thread that was large pertaining to rock-it pocket. i think the one where kryptic said he was going to make a tutorial. i mean, i string them as well, i have done for money before, but i dont charge much at all. i too respect Flip and his attempts to revolutionize the leather pocket, its an awesome idea. as much as i agree with your point about what are they gonna do, its still right to respect them and not do the pocket for other people...or at least verbalize that you do. just keep it to yourself and not make a big to do. i know i just contradicted myself but i havent strung one in at least 6 months, even for myself.

Open up a law book before advising TLF members to do as suggested above.

Intellectual rights carry a long way. Even if a patent hasn't been made, intellectual rights will carry far enough in a court.
