View Full Version : Tried out Adidas Strike and Excel

Today at Bates camp, I tried out the Adidas Response. This head is the stiffest I've ever used. It has a great offset, and I thought it was great craddling wise. It has a fair amount of stringing holes, about as many as a proton power. The scoop is too flat, and makes scooping difficult. This seems like a great attack head.
The Excel shaft was really light, about as heavy as a ignite optra, and has a similar grip to the optra, but it has three lines that go the length of the shaft on the top and bottom, and they are raised, kinda like the Adidas logo. This seemed relatively durable.
Other stuff I got to see was the elbow pads, which greatly resemble the dynasty ones in my opinion.
The shoulder pad liner that I saw resembles the gladiator liner, but has strings in he center that tighten it.
I did see the gloves, but I didn't have an opportunity to check these out, but I will try to tommorow, and I know they'll be there.

Did the mid-offset in the head make a difference? or do you think they did it just to avoid the patent?

Hows the pinch on the head? Do you think it'll meet 2009 spec.?

I didn't notice the mid offset when I threw with it, and I don't really want to risk having my camera stolen at camp just to get pics of it. If there is enough demand I might try, but I think it would be pretty awkward if the coach saw me taking pics of it.
I don't think the head will make the 2009 specs, It's really boxy, like if you took a guru and made it wider, with it widening a little as it went up to the scoop.

there goes the signature adidas sign again.

Yah, it's like raised, so it's as if it has grooves, but they come out. The other shaft was black, and didn't have and grooves.

its a small price to pay to feel insanely akward infront of your coach taking pictures so everyone of TLF would love you.

is it really gonna make a difference if you take pictures of it. just take the pictures of it, and if the coach says anything, just put the camera away.

supershot666

just say you wanted to compare the pinch to your "XXX" head at home, to see if you might want to buy it. Just take the pics on a cellphone or something.

Guys, I'll try tommorow, but I did check out the gloves and the shoulder pads today. The gloves are very similar to SS2's, but they have like a double cuff. The outer padding is kinda tight, and comes around farther than regular gloves, and then there's one that says climalite, and is similar to regular cuffs, but a little thicker. The palms are really flexible right out of the bag, and there's well placed mesh kinda like the warrior gloves right below the fingers, but there's more and it's a question mark type setup. These look like the most protective gloves right now on the market.
The regular shoulder pads look much like the older revolution ones (I think that's the name) and they have kinda pertruding caps, and have the same sort of front and rear protection arrangement. They also have normal bicep pads.

I got a great pic of the liner, but really distanced pics from the shoulder pads and the gloves, so don't get your hopes up, but I'll keep trying.

I got close ups of the response head (what I thought was the strike) and the excel. They'll be up either tonight or tommorow, I can't upload them because I"m not home.

The gloves look significantly less ugly from that angle.

Edit: How was the weight of the head?

Those shoulder pads look exactly like the old pair of Cooper shoulder pads I use. They are not lacrosse specific and I bet you anything you can use them for hockey.

If that isn't a girls head then adidas heads are weird
Those Shafts look sweet but it just seems odd to me to see an adidas logo on a lacrosse glove

WinnytheSully

I took the pic of the liner, and am not in it, and the head is pretty heavy as heads go, i'd say close to a revo pro, if not heavier

ML_LAX09

The head's scoop area reminds me of a Helix for some reason. All in all the head looks pretty darn nice for a first head. Way to go ADIDAS.

P.S. I'm liking the arm guards, how they say climicool on them. They resemble the Maverik ones though.

Errk, that liner is huge and bulky.
maybe it's because the kid wearing them doesn't fit into them.
