Today I found out that my parents are letting me redo my room completely. I have a $3000 budget, so list some ideas of things I should put in. I already know that I'm getting a mini fridge, and a mini basketball hoop. So just say some cool things and be serious.

get a couch, mini fridges are always good, cheap cpu, cheap small tv, new bed or maybe a tempurpedic matress pad(way comfy). get like a really comfy lounge chair or like bean bag chair or one of those comfy chairs with a reading light and a massager.get a secret passage too.

Also I already have a 19" dell lcd tv and comp and I like the beanbag chairs Idea. How much do temperpedic matresses cost? My room is like 14x15. I am probably painting it off white with either maroon or kelly green trim.

Here's what I'd do personally. Buy things you can bring to college when you go. Or for when you live in an apartment when you go to college or whatever. Tempurpedic bed would be a good investment, as would a very nice tv and sound system. 360 if you have money left over. That's all I'd buy. Forget lax posters and stuff like that. Once you get in college you'll have to get some real art on the walls and what not otherwise girls will just think you are still a kid. Mini fridges are overrated. You use them in the dorms and that is it.

First get some blinds that block out the sun, and make your room super dark, makes everything look better. Get a new computer (I'd go with dell, the new one I bought is sick nasty) TV, 360, Game chairs, Possibly mini Fridge (nobody likes walking to the kitchen in the middle of Halo Matchmaking) The Tempurpedic bed would be an awesome investment. You've got plenty of options.

Why get a minifridge when you won't use it after freshman year of college? You say you will have it in your room when you're on your own? Hah, try paying for electric bill yourself and that will get nixed real quick. Why not buy things to make yourself sexually appealing when you get on your own and have a chance to get a girl to your room instead of bringing her to a room that makes her feel like a 12 year old again? I can guarantee that won't make her too frisky hahaha.

Eh most likely not haha. I don't ever spend much time in my room. I'm usually out and about. I have a 360 and a Wii but don't really play either terribly much. I'd rather be out doing something instead of sitting inside staring at a screen. A good bed is essential but other than that I just stick with the basics. I am buying a new tv though soon, something 60 inches + and runs 1080p HDTV. Preferably flat screen.

Exactly the reason I'm getting it. I'm waiting to find a good deal though. I already have 2 tv's, a 27 in. flat screen hdtv and a 32 inch rear projection. Time to get something big. Trying to buy my parents tv off them. They have a 75 inch rear projection HDTV.

i think tempurpedic matresses cost like 1,000-2,000$. if you dont want to spend that much money on a bed which you probably dont just get a tempurpedic pad(60-150$) , it is super comfortable. also get a tempurpedic pillow(100's$). those things last super long and are great.

First of all everybody saying that you should buy a temperpedic probaly has no idea how much those things cost, but im pretty sure theyre really expensive and its not worth it unless your always home and sleep alot.

I would get a futon, and then put some temperpedic pillows on that thing. Buy a 360 and get xbox live, also if youre trying to choose between three colors for your paint just do like a splatter affect with all three. Kind of like a splatter dye but with paint, it actually looks pretty sweet.

Why get a crappy futon for sleep? Sleep in a bed. I know exactly how much a termperpedic costs and I'd still say get one. He's only 12 so he's got some time before he is bringing lady friends over but they can be great fun......to sleep in that is.

ROFLMAO? Xbox doesn't even have HDMI and can only play DVD's. Plus XBL is $50/Year. This Fall, quite a few games are coming out for the PS3 and Xbox can't even output 1080p and PS3 has Blu-Ray. Not the same "PS3 Graphics" or capabilities.

Yeah I was thinknig about doing that, but I am really torn between the two. I have heard more bad than good about ps3's and only good things pretty much for the 360.

In my opinion a room is for sleeping. You don't need a video game system or a huge tv. Thats what your basement/den is for. You can have surround sound, big couches, a huge tv, and all that good stuff and you can have all your friends there. All you need for your room is a bed, a comfy chair/bean bag, some storage for clothes, etc and maybe some book shelves. Don't spend all your money "pimping" out your room. Be tasteful and spend the money elsewhere where it can be used better.

The only thing is, There is no where else in my house, the basement is real small and floods sometimes, and the den is where my baby bro sleeps.

raise up your floor but leave a part normal so u can hav like a pit to chill in. You can fill it with beanbags and stuff. Leave the middle the deepest then hav the out sides a little higher for like a bench.(i kno its kinda complicated)

Xbox 360's are awesome and a lot better than the PS3. I would definetly get one and some good games, and Xbox Live. If you wait a couple weeks to get the 360 then you can get one with a HDMI Port without having to get the Elite. Just make sure on the box it says HDMI Port Included or something like that, if not try a differant store until you get one that has it.

If you are getting any sound equipment, I'd look into Bose. Anything bose is sick. My mom new someone she used to work with who's husband works at Bose. We visited once on our way to a vacation in Maine, gave us a 2 speaker + subwoofer system for free! Totally awesome for music, and infact have it going right now on this pc. Don't forget to get a pc too. Also, get a nice desk and some stuff to stash your things in. Personally, I have alot of books, mags, and clothes I need to find a place to store in, not including sport stuff. The desk is good for any school work (once you grow up and get serious about school):agree:

PLEASE tell me how the Xbox 360 is better than the PS3, besides a larger game library. The PS3 is quieter, more powerful, has the ability to play high-definition videos, and looks oh so sexy. It also won't break down on you within three years (Xbox 360 3 Year warranty) HAHAHA. Please tell me what you have heard, I will try to clear up any rumors you have heard.

Ive had this same argument, and what you said is just it. The game selection. One of the most anticipated games is coming out exclusively for the 360 (Halo 3), and NOT the PS3. It doesnt matter if the hardware of the PS3 blows the 360's out of the water, if it doesnt have any good games (not that there arent any, but there are very few). it wont sell.

Mainly because the wii is fun to play and the ps2 has like 7 years worth of games.

The ps3 is exspensive for only one system and doesnt have as many good games as a ps2, wii, or xbox/xbox 360.

Well for starters, a new or used PS2 AND a new Wii (since it will be difficult, though not impossible, to find a used one) are still less than the 60g PS3 by around $100 combined (give or take it being too early in the morning for math), which once sold out will leave us with only the $599.00 80g version as an option, unless they pull another price drop. That and while I still find the PS3 impressive and its projected exclusives are a selling point (once they are released and get favorable reviews to justify buying the system for said games), the addition of integrated Blu-ray isn't enough to make the leap either as the next gen of media formats still hasn't been decided.

Whatever system he decides on (if he wants one), I suggest he hit up the major gaming and tech sites for more research and reviews just based on rabid fanboy debates that are only going to come from threads like these.

I agree. If you are going to argue a point, please do more than saying eww. You're other posts about why he should consider a PS3 over a 360 at least have substance to your opinion. But arguing for that sake of arguing is what sends threads in the wrong direction and leads to them being shut down or deleted, and that isn't something we always need.

Stay away from Ikea for furniture. You can get chairs there maybe but anything else seems to be pretty low in quality. I have a desk from there that is falling apart in 3 different places and I haven't even done too much damage to it. Target is always good. Also saying, "Ur a guy so put what every other guy stuff you want in ur room" is kind of an irrelevant comment. I mean chances are everyone has different tastes, I personally go for high end stuff and make my room like a palace of love haha. Chances are some of you youngins are going to have much different tastes than I do so just telling him to get guy stuff helps very little. Just a thought.

Sorry about that, I was very tired and my mom wanted me to go to bed kind of early because i am going on a trip tomorrow and thought it would be a good idea for me to get into somewhat of a good habit. Apple computers are unbelievably expensive, and you could build one with custom parts from www.tigerdirect.com or many other warehouse-priced dealers. Also, if you want a fully customizable operating system for free, why not try out Linux? Or have a dual boot Linux/Windows for ease of use and if you needed to do something that you didn't know how to on linux, than you could use Windows. The 60GB PS3 is approximately $500 and the Xbox 360 is $400 and the Wii is $250. That is $650 vs $500. Along with a Wii, you would probably end up buying the Nun-Chuck thing, adding more to the cost. 2008 is looking to be the best line up of any year with "Killer" games for the PS3; I cannot speak about the 360 and Wii because I do not know. Although Halo 3 doesn't look very amazing to me, Bioshock looks absoultely stunning and may turn out to be a wonderful game. Five upcoming games that I am THRILLED about are Haze (An FPS with a deep story and amazing graphics.), Unreal Tournament (A timed exclusive for the PS3 which looks hectic and is supposed to have some really cool online.), Warhawk (A multiplayer-only game that is a third person view with ability to drive vehicles, fly planes, and traverse on foot.), Lair (A game in which you fly a dragon with great orchestral scores and amazing graphics, as well as using the SIXAXIS tilt function very thoroughly.), and Heavenly Sword (An epic game with amazing visuals, stunning sound, and some very fun battles.).Also, Guitar Hero III is coming out this fall as well as the many updated Guitars. Any other questions/rants?

I'm prolly getting a PS3, cause it has some really good exclusive games, andthe good graphics. I don't really care about halo 3, because my parents won't let me play m rated games, but i will definately play it at a friends house hehe. It may cost more, but they will be coming out with plenty of new games soon anyway.
And maybe i could get a giant fish tank, that would be cool, and have it like "in the wall." And let's stay on topic this is turning into a 360 vs. PS3 thread now.

. The 60GB PS3 is approximately $500 and the Xbox 360 is $400 and the Wii is $250. That is $650 vs $500. Along with a Wii, you would probably end up buying the Nun-Chuck thing, adding more to the cost.

Techincally money isn't an option (I believe his total budget is $3k), though when portioning it out a $499 system (while supplies last) may leave less room for budgeting in accessories and games, which looking at the now $349 360 (which may or may not require its extended warranty) and the $249 Wii (which does include a nunchuku with the included remote..if you can find one in tstock outside of eBay) does effect the math somewhat. Granted adding on any accessories (controllers, memory devices, other pointless things) it's going to factor in one way or another. Of course this can be circumvented with frineds who have similar systems bring their peripherals (or even if they don't have them invest in their own controller, a practice my friends and I did when systems started integrating multiple controller ports).

This holiday season looks to be promising no matter what system you own, but then again it always is.

Other things for the room, invest in a good bed if you can, your dreams will thank you later. I do recommend Ikea as it can really fit any budget and while some stuff seems too cheap for it's own good, other things can be steals (I got an entire bedroom set on clearance for $99 not including the matress)if you're willing to look, and put in the elbow grease on putting it together, though it's not overly difficult.

Sorry Ryno about starting this large argument, and if you get a computer, I would wait until next Spring. In Q3 or Q4 this year, or maybe Q1 next year, Intel is lowering the prices of its processors by 1/2 or 3/4, a dramatic change. This would save you tons of money and allow you to get a much better computer for a much cheaper price.

PS3 thread now.

both my cousins have wii and i have 360. i can solidly say that they are both VERY fun to play. and these "killer games", if i may quote fawkes here, for ps3 are going to be rated mature. guitar hero 3 is coming out for all systems. halo 3 will be the best game of this year, cant forget: gears of war, rainbow six, oblivion, legend of zelda, bioshock, fable 2, banjo kazooie 3 (360), and many more are all great ones coming out or already are out for wii and 360.

You say that Halo 3 will be the GOTY, but have you seen COD4 or Bioshock, among other games..?
