Hey I know that theres already a Cross Country Thread but it dosent talk about what I need information for. I need new spikes this year my old ones are shot, we have to use cross country spikes no hard plate spikes(or else I would jut use my zoom milers) so I need help picking out a new pair of spikes, I was thinking thesehttp://www.eastbay.com/catalog/productdetail/module--productDetail/action--view/sku--29451/model_nbr--80685/supercat--shoes/cm--54540/id--54540/mvp--brand/sport--17/
or these nike's http://www.eastbay.com/catalog/productdetail/module--unknown/action--view/cm--54419/supercat--shoes/model_nbr--78375/sku--15294141/id--54419/mvp--sport/
any other suggestions would be great thanks

Between those two, I would say hands down the Zoom Forevers. I have heard tons of great things about the Forevers and I just ordered a pair of them off Nike iD. I tried them on and they are very very light. I ordered the spikeless waffle version, but the 4 spikes should give you a little better traction on mud/dirt/grass. Good luck this year.

Here are mine for this year, my school colors are navy and cardinal do those should be pretty sweet. The plate on the new Forevers are really nice.

I don't run XC but i do run indoor, and i would say you can't go wrong with Nike's. Nike has proven them selves in footwear in every aspect of life, and im sure that their XC spikes will do you well if you choose them.

Haha ya I would never wear nike running shoes, but I definetly think they have proven themselves in flats and spikes since that was the way they kinda started. I personally had saucony trainers and didnt like them, but a lot of people on my team run in kilkennys for races. If you can afford the Forevers you will probably be more happy with them.

This will be my second year running cross country. Last year I ran a 20 min pr, and I am going for a 18 min pr this year. Should I get me a pair of spikes? Only 2 people on our team have them.

I would definetly get a pair of spikes/flats. This will be my first year having them and my coach told me it will take off 15 seconds per mile if you've been running in trainers for races. Well worth it in my opinion

What would be a good pair for me I have high arches and a wide foot?

i got these ones last year and i loved them.

they are super light and were snug (but not overly tight) to my feet and it felt like i was running barefoot. This will be my 5th year of xc and i have gone through my share of spikes, and i recommend these ones or the forevers (which im guessing are similar or slightly better).

edit- for fatmanlax i recommend asics dirt dogs, the people who i know have wide feet have them and love them. I have never used them myself but those who use em are loyal to them and are extremely popular leading me to believe that they are good.

yea thats what i meant, sorry for the confusion, i knew that their trainers suck, but i meant like basketball shoes and cleats and all that stuff, i run in Asics Cumulus 9's best investment i have made in running yet...so light and so comfortable. They were about $80 when i bought them which is actually a good price for trainers because usually people put the price way over the top because they will sell either way.

I had the sauconys, they were decent but kind of heavy. This year I have two new spikes, Some custom waffles which are sick, and some new balance 240. I think you might like the 240 shoe better than the sauconys. Just go to your local store and try all their shoes on, then make a decision.

ya it would probably be too late to get iD's now, they take 3-4 weeks, I ordered mine at the beginning of August so hopefully they'll be here by the first race.

fatman- yea the dirt hogs look pretty good they look pretty wide to me, spikes though usually are pretty tight on your foot so if you have a wide foot i would do resarch on a spike before you get them because you dont want themto be to tight

Tonight I am going to go to fleet feet sports (running store) and try on a couple pair of shoes and a couple pair of spikes. And I will ask them about dirt hogs. I am a big fan of asics's shoes.
