Photogrphers, help me choose a camera.

Hello. I currently own an Kodak Easyshare C340. It's really not cutting it for me. I need a faster shutter time so I can take pictures of action and sports and stuff. I also want a camera that can maybe take some videos.

Do you think I should invest in an SLR? My mom is into photography and she has extra lenses and those Gary Fong things.

Please recommend me a camera. I am really not wanting to get something really cheap, but I don't want a SUPER high-end camera.

That's the thread to ask this type of question. However, your probably looking for something like a Canon Rebel XT or a Nikon D50 (depending on what brand your mom has) You should get an SLR, but they CANNOT do video. Some additional sites to check out are:
