I need help spreading the word about locks for love. we am currently holding a locks for love event at my high school and I need ideas on how to get people to join. Right now we are giveing away free haircuts when your hair is long enough from a salon but I need more ideas on how to get people to help this cause. Can anyone help im goin crazy. People dont seem to take this as a serious cause when it is.

how long is the minumum your hair can be to do this? and can you get it done at any ol barber shop? i've been thinking about doin this for awhile.
as for the advertising, put flyers on peoples windshields at church? we get alot of that stuff at our church. not trying to sound insensitive but maybe make like posters of kids with cancer and try to guilt trip people in? a catchy slogan couldn't hurt. roses are red, violets are blue, give your hair to kids with cancer, they need it more than you. im 100% serious about this, dont think im just tryin to make a joke of it.

talk to your principal, and get the sports teams to try and take part. During the football and lax season, players would shave their heads or get mohawks for fun, so that could go into your cause.

I believe it's 10 inches, but I'm not completely sure about that.

I could have donated my hair when I recently got a haircut. But I didnt know the barber shop had the program. You should get many barbershops to join the cause and advertise that they are doing the program. That impact would last a while in the community as people would donate ther hair there. They would go to get a haircut and see that they need to grow it 1 or 2 more inches in order to be able to donate it to a helpful cause.

At my school I cant let my hair get that long. I used to have hair down to my shoulders and I donated to some program. My hair is like 4 inches now. I wonder if the headmaster will let me grow it out some more.

I personally dont care for locks for love anymore, after their change. They no longer use the donated hair to make hairpieces, they sell it to private companies and use the funds to distribute synthetic wigs.

STFU no they dont. Wow how dare you say such a thing. Really it takes some kind of low life person to say such a terrable thing like that. It is donated to kids who dont have hair. So go KYS

we did the same thing at my school on our "PreTest Destress Day"(day before we start studying for finals that we basically play games and wander around all day) a girl on my lacrosse team started it and she convinced a bunch of our teammates...including me... to donate their hair. once you get a few people to sign up have them convince their friends and so on to do it. thats how we got i think 20 girls to donate their hair. GOOD LUCK!!!!

tomtom is right, i recently cut 10 inches and donated to Wigs for Kids. The American Cancer Society asks that you donate to Wigs for Kids, because they are non profit, whereas Locks for Love actually requires the cancer patients to purchase the wigs. And each wig takes 10-12 donations, so we need all of the help we can get

Not much to contribute to this thread but I know that my sister recentley did this and donated her hair...I believe it was ten inches that she sent in. It is the spirit of trying ot help others that matters, if someone tries to sell what you dontate, then let them but you know that you did something good.
