I know there are ther threds on this, but there a year old, so please don't close this, and now onto the subject......

:bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

Ok, so today I was with my friend, we were throwing in like 103 degree temperature, so we decide to jump in my pool, and about 4 minutes later, he makes a joke saying, "Oh no, I left my phone in my pocket," about 1/2 a second later I realize that my 3 week old slider is in my pocket:DOH: , I pulled it out of my pocket and sprinted to my towel, the whole time my friend is laughing, I'm about to just plunge myself in the deep end and not come up. :dummy:. Now I'm pacing back and forth, and my friend keeps saying don't worry just take everything out and let it dry, so we keep swimming while my phone is drying, and later I try some other tactics. It turns on, has sound and says insert sim, I figure it works well, but I think the water may propose some problems in the future.

So, I need some advice on what I should do, my friend says call tmobile and say that it isn't charging right and they will send another phone, hard to believe they would do that, but he said that worked for his RAZR. I was wondering if other people did this and got new phones, I really like this phone, and it still works somewhat, but it has water in the screen, so I need either advice on how to get a new one, or how to get the water out of this one. It STILL has the warranty, but will that void since it was submerged under water?

Thanks!

I think if there is a red circle/dot (not white) in the back they won't give you a new one. I'm not positive.

yea thats true, but just let it dry out for a while. The longer u wait the more the phone works.

i jsut dropped mine in a toliet a week ago and it works fine now

Yea theres a thing near the battery on phones to tell when the phone was in water. Ive read something that you should let your phone dry completely before turning it on or it will mess up the circuit or get messed up some way.

Check if the dot chnaged color. For the screen you can say it was in a humid and sweaty area.

Buy a new battery, then put the dry, all white dotted battery in the phone. Take it to the store, say its not working properly. They will look for the red dot, but since its a new battery, it'll still be white. They in turn will give you a new phone. Hey, it worked for me

The dot is on the phone under the battery, so wite out would be my best bet lol, but thanks

Or if you have a friend or family member with a T-mobile phone that is working fine, switch the stickers. It's a lot more convincing than white out...

you can buy white dots on ebay for like $5

does the warrenty void if it gets "hit by a car"?
if it dosen't, smash it, accidently lose the red dot piece, then replace it...

just a suggestion

also, you could very carefully paint over it/strongly adhere something white over it

I just read the manual it says if its damaged from ACCIDENTS, MISUSE, or tampering, then the warranty voids, I think this only applies if the phone has manfacturing faults like the sliding thing is messed up which mine is, or if the charging does not work properly, but good idea, lol

my friend did that and he took out the battery cover, battery and everything and just let it dry for a day and it works fine, his screen was the prblem too

Mine works, but it kept turning black and white when I first tried to turn it on, just either air dry it or blow dry it, but keep trying, cause it can take up to a week to start working again, try every night.

theres a difference between warrantys and guaruntee's. warranty's protect you against a defective phone, like it comes out of the box broken. a guaruntee protects the phone from people being idiots, dropping them, water damage ect. your best bet is to just turn off your phone and let it dry out for a few days, if you try to use it when its still wet you'll fry all the circuits and it wont work anymore.

i know this sounds retarded, but i took a swim with my phone, in the atlantic ocean about a year ago and the only thing wrong with it is the low battery noise when making calls, comes on everytime..

what i did, was let it dry out for a week, take the battery out as well, and after a week, i rinsed it with tap water.. let it dry for another week. and it was good as new.

DONT TURN IT ON AT ALL UNLESS ITS BEEN DRYING FOR AT LEAST A WEEK, thats what causes them to screw up!

i heard if putting it in the freezer immediately solves the problem

haha just joking. seriously this has happened twice to me. pull the battery and sim card and whatever detachable pieces from the phone apart and lay it on a dry towel in a cool, dry place. leave it there for a few days. both of mine turned out fine.

my phone has been submerged in water many times (im not that stupid )

step 1. remove battery from phone
2. dry both (phone and battery) with a towel
3. put it out on your kitchen counter or on a desk, AWAY FROM THE SUN
4. after 3-5 hours put the battery back in the phone and try to charge it, if nothing happens let it dry for 3-5 more hours
5. repeat step 4, this time a light or something SHOULD turn on
6. let it charge for 30 min. and be checking on it ocasionally
7. now take your phone out and use like you normally would

When my phone went in the water, we went to a verizon store and they told me to put my phone in a jar of rice. They said fill it up and seal the top of the jar. It work perfectly and my phone was back to normal. You should try it.

Look at the bottom of your phone where the charger adapter connects to the phone. That's metal. That will corrode within a day or two and turn a puke green. Any adequately trained clerk for a cell phone company will immediately check this outlet piece, determine that it was exposed to water, and not honor your warranty.

If you have insurance, however, it still qualifies.

i jumped in a pool with my phone in my pocket and it was in there like 10 minutes. its fine now. just runs out a battery a bit sooner then normal. First put it in rice then let it dry for a day or two then blow dry it and let it dry for a few more days

THE ANSWER

I have used this numerous times

okay, put your phone in a sock, then put that sock in another sock, then put it in the dryer with a load of clothes
then take out and give it a day or two maybe longer to dry out

it will work

i got thrown into a pool with my cell phone before. i took it all apart and blow dried and let it sit on its side. 3 days later, it rose from the dead. i called that phone christ. it also got ran over by a car, dropped/thrown numerous times, ran over by a bus, and left in a snowbank over night. it worked the entire time.

This is what happens. You call t-mobile and you request to get a new phone. You ship t-mbole your old phone and 2 weeks later you get a brand new in box phone (Yay!). When your phone bill comes in, OMG 300 dollar charge for new phone =P.

Just thought you might want to know, the phone(after drying out for like 2 weeks) doesnt work. It turns on, but when you hit the number 8, like a different number comes up, the arrows are mixed up, and I have tried, its impossible to access and call a number, plus you cant text. Id love to try switching the white dots, but my dad says its not worth my integrity. Anymore ideas?
