So, my university lacrosse team is looking for get fundraisers or ways to get some more money. We get no funding from our school and our dues are already really high. We need to fundraise an extra $4000 more than we had to last year. Any suggestions?

I don't know how much it costs, but maybe some kind of lax tournment that people have to pay to play in.

Sell t-shirts, throw a party and charge for "supplies", solicit donations from alumni and corporate sponsors, clean up for university sponsored events such as football games, run concessions at university events, etc.

I know teams that do car washes....

Also, sell 'sponsorships' with different levels... top level gets a banner on each page of the website, full page ad in the program, or large banner displayed at games; next level gets link on the web page, half page ad, half size banner, etc... Just take a look at many of the 'club' lacrosse teams around the country to see examples...

Get someone to help sponsor a brat/ hotdog/ beer stand. My team did it for a fundraiser. This guy that helped, rented the stand, bought the food, soda, supplied the grill. We just had to work it. He just asked for the money back that he put into it and we got the benefits. We only had like 300 brats, so we sold out like 2-3 hours ahead of time, cuz we were doing good. Made like 800. Just did it on a main street, got people to hear about lacrosse, some younger kids interested, and fed people too. Worked out great.

I had my team do a "Shootout". They solicited pledges based on how fast they shoot. They requested either a $$ amount for every 10 MPH, or a flatout donation. Each player that didn't put fundraising hours in other fundraisers had to raise $100. We raised $2,700 with several players already exempt because of fall fundraising participation.

With universities you can get money from the parents and alums from a well organized letter writing campaign. Write parents letters introducing them to the team. Around November start a fundraising campaign asking for donations...your school might be able to accept the donations on your behalf and make 'em tax deductible. In January, send out letters for a goal-a-thon where they donate a set amount for every goal you score. Depending on the area and the youth programs around you may be able to pull off a clinic or a camp as well. The key to fundraising is being organized and all the guys actually wanting to do it. Start small and build your way up.

When I was in college we went around to a couple of the local businesses and asked if they had work for us. The business can write it off as a charitable donation and the team gets money for doing stuff like unloading trucks or doing inventory. Alot of small businesses like having access to 30 or so healthy, college age guys and the business gets a tax write off as a charitable donation. After a few years, our team dues were down to $25 a person.

bug people outside of walmart/ stop and shop/ etc. ( get permission first of course). You can raise lots of money that way.

How many people do you get to a home game. The one dollar entrance increase for a specific team need, or the one dollar pail that is passed at every home game works wonders. Not only do alot of people give more, when fans go to a game knowing that all the team needs from them is one dollar they give freely.
