ah yes the many different string combinations i have used/tried and it all comes down to this one. "The Cradle Pocket" for lack of a better name. Its basicly a mesh string job. how do you string it and how does it work? read on....
materials:
1 hard mesh piece
1 top string string
3 hockey laces
2 sidewall strings
1 lace to tie down bottom of mesh
and a head (preferably one with 3 holes that are close to each other near the lip of the head on both sides, commonly seen on warrior heads.)
how to string it:
1. Take the two sidewall strings and lace them through the outer ends of the mesh (from the top of the mesh to the bottom) like this:
xxx
xxx
xxx
Do this on both sides of the mesh.
2. Attach the strings you laced through the sides of the mesh to the holes where you would string the top string on both sides of the head. Do this on both sides of the head.
3. Now string the bottom of the "sidewall" strings through the first hole from the bottom of the head. Then tie a not to keep it tight. then lace it back under the head through the MESH hole that is next to the second hole from the bottom of the head. Do this on both sides of the head.
3. String the top of the mesh to the head using the top string.
4. String bottom string to through the 4 holes on the end of the stick to keep pocket tight.
5. Take 1 hockey lace and string it through the second hole from the top, right below the top string hole. Do this with the next 2 strings, just string each one below the one above it. The best way to string the laces is with 3 straight rolled shooters. But any straight shooters should work.
6. To keep the ball from cliping the lip of the stick you have to tighten the shooters. You should tighten the part of the shooters that are closest to the sidewalls only, leaving the middle of the shooter loose for a smooth release. Play around with them until you get it to the way you want it.
7. Now your all done. A good way to break the pocket is to put a ball and screwdriver or whatever you normally use to make a pocket and when the ball/whatever you use to keep there are in, tighten up the strings that are laced through the mesh to make the pocet legal and to make it have better control and a smoother release. (It's easier to adjust the "sidewall" string that is strung through the top then the bottom one.)
I hope you like it.
pictures should be up shortly.
