Lately, with all the MLL Championship Weekend hype coming up, I've noticed a lot of advertisements and notices from IL popping up in the General Men's Forum. Now I know this is probably only a temporary thing while the Championships are played, but I think the GMF has gotten a bit too cluttered. Last I checked, I counted 10 stickies from IL and a whopping 6 of them with less than 5 posts (3 having 0). Along with the stickies, there were also a few other non-stickied threads that IL made to advertise some promotion. At first only a few threads from IL were created, but now, there have been so many, I have to scroll down half the page to get to the actual threads by other users. I think that with so much advertisements, maybe IL should just make a seperate forum for there stuff, or try and keep it to a minimum. I mean, do you really need more than one thread talking about MLL contests or announcements. I think they least they could have done was make one megathread for all their contests and maybe another for there announcements. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Well, its their forum so there's not too much we can really do about it.

But I will go through them and consolidate where appliable, and delete old, out of date stickies. Give me until Sunday, though. I'm kinda busy this weekend.

Yea, it's their forum. We don't have to pay to be a member here. So, basically, put up with it.

Whats the problem with the ads on the right side of the page?

I'm getting tired of a certain posting in the Canadian Box/ NLL forum. It's displaying a part of an article from IL.com and then says read more. After which it gets locked so no discussion is allowed. I'm guessing that a low % of the ~30 000 users are are actually visiting IL for news so they're flooding us with links, etc to their site.

i dont like it but i deal with it because IL owns the site and they can do whatever they want with it. it's not so bad. if craig or adam creates a thread/sticky, you should know not to click on it, because it's either gonna be a link to IL.com or a promotion for IL.

The stickied threads have really built up over the past 2-3 weeks. I went through this morning and took care of a few of them, a lot of them are still getting good hits and therefore still bumped to the top of the first page that they really don't need to be stickied any further. That doesn't mean you shouldn't click the links, it's still a good source of news and a way of bringing breaking updates or new IL features you may have otherwise overlooked in searching for info on the upcoming seasons. However I do agree that after a week some (if not many) have run their course and aren't being read, and as they build up, they overshadow the rest of the current threads, and the stickied rules which really do need to the the first thing seen in the forum.

But keep in mind, those promotions and ads and what not generate the revenue that helps keep TLF up and running.

I know that IL owns TLF, and so promotions from them are bound to come up. That I'm fine with, and I'm sure they'll probably go down a bit since the Championship is down with. But what I feel they should do is least make one or two megathreads, rather than make a bunch of stickies and threads that clutter up the forum.
