View Full Version : Faceoff Hardmesh Problem

I've been using softmesh in my Blade all summer, and I'm tired of it. It's inconsistent and I've had enough. I tried hardmesh before, but when I plungered or clamped (my go to moves), the ball would get stuck in the mesh because it wouldn't give like the softmesh. Other than that, I loved the hold and the feel of the hardmesh. Would breaking the mesh in work, or should I string it differently?

break in the hard mesh or try out semi hard

hmmmmm, when it breaks in it shud be a little easier but the pinch on the head maybe too tight... and there are f//o stringings but i do not knowmuch about them

Either get regular hard mesh and condition it or just try out semi-hard, it gets broken in prettty easily.

I thought about semi-hard, but I heard it breaks in to practically softmesh really easily. I'm just wondering if the hardmesh (I have it right now, stretching the heck out of it) will break in enough to let the ball go. Keep in mind that my Blade has pinched a bit from facing off. I don't wanna try a faceoff specific stringing cause I like to get fast breaks straight off the face and play middie until there's a break in play where I can get my other stick.

a little tip to unpinch it just enough is to string it like you like it then stick a baseball in the back like you would face off and leave it while your not using your stick. a baseball is just a little bigger than a lacrosse ball and will widen the head enough to where it lets go of the ball but is not too wide.

Soak it, lube it, shampoo it, play with it, untill it breaks into somthing that is harder than soft, but softer than hard.
My sticks are sort of pinched, probably not as much as yours, but the ball is always stuck in the back after a plunger. I just give it a good fling and it usually comes out. I think breaking it may help a bit too. Just play some wallball until it's broken in, and then see.

if you clamp or use the plunger near the throat of the head (the smallest part) then use a long bottom string, it helps

Or try traditional stringing.
Yea you'd probably need to maintain it often but it will be soft enough not to trap the ball and will still throw pretty consistently

Ok here is the solution. Do a corner pocket. with hard mesh trimmed to fit in two leathers and then do basic traditional or coils. it will throw like hard mesh, but will face off perfectly. it's what i use.

you could use fabric softener on the hard mesh, it makes it softer, but it still keeps it harder than soft mesh
