The one there is the 5K which is there entry level chest Pad. RBK also is releasing A 9K which is more like the other high end chest pads on the market. The 9K is going to have all the removable extra pads and better coverage.

heres my issue with that idea mentioned
high end = more padding, but more experienced goalies hate tons of pads
I don't see tons of players buying these big pads, at most they'll buy something as big as the eraser. I just wish I could see a company market one really nice, low profile pad. I am curious to see this maverik chest pad, because these big pads aren't easy to move in and look pretty stupid underneath a jersey

I say that we shoulk keep the initial designs of the field chest protector. I currently use a Warrior Revolution Air MLL Goalie Guard 5.0 from 2004. However, they should protect the areas they cover like a box lacrosse chest protector so that there is less chance of an injury.

That pad's design is real similar to the Eraser. It looks like it would hold its own. I used an Eraser and liked it, so this will probably be almost the same thing.

I like the shape but the protection looks a little lacking. The Gait Sentinel looks similar in shape, but seems to have better padding.

Besides perhaps the Eraser, I haven't seen any new CP's in the last 2 years that make me want to switch from my Glad.

thats because most companies dont know how to make good goalie protection anymore....its all about the new padding technologies. i like the padding on the supercrosse...i wish they made that style padding in the spartan core and i woulda been set for life...

im lookin forward to seeing what they came up with for the 9k. the 5k doesnt look too bad, but seems too thin even for an experienced goalie...looks like its not gonna be protective enough, and experienced and seasoned gks like the thinnest, but this looks too thin. kind of like the icon thin padding.

My thought exactly. I think the Gladiator is the best chest protector ever made in terms of comfort, mobility, and protection. I've used a good number of them too: the Warrior MPG 5.5, the Warrior MLL 5.0, the deBeer Intrepid, the Brine XFactor and the Brine Spartan Core. The Gladiator beats them all hands down.

after checking laxshopper today I noticed they have 9k pictures now... I assume the lower belly and the shoulder caps are removable.

they are. i tried the 9k on and it was awesome, and the belly piece is removeable. and the shoulders are removeable, but i didnt see how, i only was told. it reminds me of a better revolution 5000 from warrior.

good to hear, now I just have to decide, the 9k or the Eraser, decisions decisions...

Anything new/exciting protection-wise on the sternum area of the 9k? Is it any different from the padding on curent pads in terms of heart protection?

i dunno if anyone knows but adidas has a chest preotector and i didnt know that until a little while ago. It looks smaller than the Rbk one and also looks like its got good flexibility. Its called the Excel CP.
Check it out

Adidas needs some help with there lax gear. I think rbk did a goot job when they came in but adidas stuff doesn't look good. But any way both or rbk's look good and does anyone know if the 9k has pading on the back?

Sorry for this small bump, but I have a question. I'm 4'7", and about 75 lbs. What size would I be for this chest protector? I was thinking small or xsmall.

yeah its pretty nice- you dont always need the 150$ cp- all college goalies mostly wear a small cp tight to their bodies so its like a second skin when they move and they dont wear thigh padding pants- I like it a lot- I mad one based on it too- freewebs.com/schaferb100

ryno you probably need small, if they have xs i would go for it

Ok, thanks. Yeah, now that I think about it, XS would probably be better. I like my chest protectors nice and snug anyway, and they do have XS on sportstop.

Dude, the Eraser isn't that big at all, if you have it fit correctly it's alot more low profile then others, i will admit that it is thick, but not big and bulky. Getting the Eraser was the best lacrosse related equipment purchase I have ever made

yea i tried on the 5k and i really liked. very low profile. thats what i like. then i saw the 9k and was kinda skeptical cuz of all the padding. but then i saw the removal shoulders so i think ill look for it to try it on.

The Maverik Dynasty CP is low profile, really comfortable and very affordable with removable neck and lower belly pads.

Was just out in Cali last week and picked up a 5k at South Swell. Fits really nice and is very light. Protective. but doesn't seem to get in the way, but will have to wait until I can step in goal to test it out. I'll snap a few picks tonight with it on for ya fellas.

also consider that rbk has been around for the last couple of years with the nll so they probably picked up a few tips here and there. adidas really did make a good cp but its just not visually appealing. ive seen it in action, its really not that bad. but they need to rework it because it could be better.

i dont like that it is velcro that straps you in. velcro gets dirty and doesnt stick as well after a while. clips work better. i like my eraser too, enough protection and still keep the mobility.

Yeah, my stx exo's velcro sticks to my jersey/pinnie its annoying. I'm looking at getting the eraser for my brithday though!
