Hey guys and girls,

I've got a few questions regarding the gloves you wear. I know not everyone uses a goalie glove, and clearly broken/sprained thumbs are a fairly common issue. My question is has anyone had issues with the protection provided by the rest of your glove? For instance the back of your hand or your other fingers? I personally have never noticed much pain from taking shots on the rest of my hand. Anyone feel standard gloves are underpadded everywhere else? Or is there a reasonable protection? Also, do you feel current goalie gloves offer a good range of motion? Is protection, or a wide range of motion most important to you?

Thanks!

The protection varies from glove to glove. That said, my field Macs were lacking in protection for my other four fingers, same complaint for a pair of hypnos that i snagged to play with for a game. Both gloves had great bakhand protection though, which was nice.

I wear Macs (For both outfield and goalie) and find them very protective. I think they are very flexible once broken in (mine were broken in straight out of the bag) and give me a great range of motion. The only problem I find with them when I am in goal is that if I take a shot to the fingers or thumb it does leave them quite numb (but that might just be if it's a hard shot).

My teams starting goalie uses Superfreak goalie gloves and he loves them. I have tried them on and I think they are very flexible and our goalie says they are super protective, especially on the fingers and thumbs.

Hope this helps!

yeah i gotta agree with lax38, i use the superfreaks goalies and they have a nice amount of protection on the thumb, fingers and the back of the hand.

ive never broken bones in the superfreaks but i have had sprains and deep bone bruises because of hard shots

I've noticed almost no difference in field gloves and their goalie counterparts, besides the obvious thumb.
The only goalie gloves I know of with more protection than their field version are Superstar 1's (reinforced backhand and fingers) and RPM/Monsoon (wrist wing).

Sounds good so far, any features you guys have always wanted in a goalie glove besides the obvious thumb protection, which is a constant fairly difficult issue to solve so it seems
