So I am from Memphis TN, not exactly the best place for a lacrosse player but we do have some very good teams here in Tennessee. I am a high school junior who plays at a high school who has a had a team for two years. I am the leading scorer and assist leader on my team and have been told from various coaches that I am good enough to play college ball. I have never talk to my coach about college ball but the coaches from MUS (the best school school in memphis) have said I can play college. I broke my wrist last season so I was unable to send any game tapes to coaches, I was also unable to go to any recruiting camps this summer. Am I behind on the recruiting process at all? Will the fact that there are so many unexperienced players on my team effect the way coaches will look at me? And what exactly should I do right now to get myself out there without any tape to show? Thanks, peace.

Yeah, you are behind the recruiting process if you haven't gotten any looks yet, but that doesn't mean its too late. But you HAVE to go to recruiting camps this summer if you want to get looked at. Make a list of all the colleges you'd be interested in playing for at the beginning of the summer, and e-mail all the coaches. Tell them about yourself, your grades, your lacrosse honors, your team and the teams you play, and tell them what camps you'll be attending so they can put you on their list and come watch you.

Don't worry about playing in the South, the divide is barely there anymore. I live in NC and we get 10+ players going D1 every year. Tony Mendes from East Chapel Hill got a full ride to Maryland and he's on the US U-19 Team. Two guys from Chapel Hill just committed to UNC, an attackman from Catholic is committed to Loyola, and a middie for Latin is committed to Delaware. If you're good enough, and you put yourself out there, you'll get your chance.
