I was wondering if anyone on here knew anything about Bowdoin College. A couple of things I was wondering were...
1) How are the academics?
2) How is the campus?
3) How is the coach?
4) How is the lacrosse?
Thanks.

academics are really good, its part of the nescac conference, which is known for great academics and lacrosse. not sure about the campus, but the school is in brunswick, maine, so its pretty cold and probably a small town. dont know anything about the coach. the lacrosse team is pretty good, probably a top 40 teams. if you want more info, you should shoot winnythesully a pm, he lives in brunswick.

1, 2, and 4 are things you can look up online with much more opinion, analysis, and insight than a forum made of mostly pre-teens and young highschoolers. You're going to the wrong place for that. There are college databases and services that will give you a much better idea.

Bowdoin is a VERY good school academically. The campus is also very nice. I've been there several times over the years for hockey and lacrosse games. The past two winters I played in there winter indoor league, which was ran by the players, who were all really nice guys. As for the weather, I don't know why everyone thinks Maine is in the Arctic. Unless you leave south of Maryland/Virginia/Pennsylvania the weather won't any different.

yah, I am the resident expert:
A. Academics are top notch. They were named by NBC as a "new ivy". My mom was Valedictorian in her high school class, and went to Bowdoin.
B. Reminds me a lot of UVA. It's all based around the quad, and has great buildings, including the new art museum. About half their dorms have been redone in the last 5 years, including the freshmen ones. The dining is also great, they were best in the nation in '05, and as far as I know, they still are. If your a picky eater, this is the school to go to.
C. Tom McCabe is a great guy, and a great coach. I play wall ball most afternoons at the field house where they practice. They run a really technical offense/defense from looking at the playbook in their locker room, and he knows a ton about lacrosse. He's not leaving anytime soon either, his mom was my gym teacher 7 years ago in gym, when I was in first grade, and both of his kids went to Brunswick.
D. They are a bit above average for NESCAC, but that's the most competitive D3 school, so you have to expect that.
I'll admit, I am a bit biased, because both my parents went to Bowdoin and I'm close to the college, but it's a great school.

We sent a lacrosse player there last year and we send a good number of students there.

1) Very strong, but it is a small liberal arts school and thus has relatively limited majors.
2) Also very nice, the food is supposed to be great, and the dorms are nice. Only downside, really cold.
3) Coach, I'm sorry don't know much about him.
4) Lacrosse, D3, often ranked but almost never in the top 10.

And about the player, he was the best player on a school that is good against other small schools but doesn't stand a chance against St. Albans, Prep, Landon, Gonzaga or any of the strong MIAA schools (we beat Baltimore Friends, but they were much worse than usual last year). He was all conference, in a conference of small schools and our team usually wins the conference. He was not all-met (includes all dc metro are, prep, landon, St. Albans, Gonzaga...) however. He was skillful and talented but not extremely, he was more athletic than anything else. Also a good student at one of the best schools in the country though.

basicly, really good academics, that cant be said enough. campus is great, the fieldhouse is very nice. ive been there three years for camp in the summer. Tom Mcabe seems like a great guy, i dont know him really well though. and they are a good program, not top 10, but nonetheless good.

If you can go to Bowdoin - do it!!! My The coach seems like a stand up guy. A kid I know graduated there a couple years ago and had multiple great job offers right out of the gate.
