If the other team sets a high post in front of the goal, what (generally speaking) has been your more effect defense for this? A switch, or for the D-Man to go under the post?

Thanks,

Mike

My answer depends on how high the post is,and what the rest of the offensive formation does. If they're routinely running cutters with a picking creaseman and shooting from a bit high rather than low,I may put my crease longpole up higher. Usually that feed is coming from behind,so the backer would be on the low post already.
We run a backer zone,so I don't generally think of it in terms of man to man coverage as the switches occur between zones, and usually are more in the form of a localized collapse on the ball.
